balotelli elbowed at stoke

It looked more like a raised arm that a definate elbow - still a red though.

There were about 5-6 other incidents where he went over very easily.
Looked very similar to Barton's on Tevez to me. And the most telling thing was that the Stoke crowd normally boo like fuck but they were dead quiet after that incident.

That will be twice that Stoke players have got away with elbowing Mario and nothing has been done. As others had said, constrast and compare to Mario on Scott Parker. We never heard the end of it.

Frankly, I'm sick off watching him fall over and take an age to get back to his feet and in the game

His "victim" mentality and selfishness will stop him realising any talent he may have (too little evidence of this to get me excited)

Not a fan I'm afraid - give me the honesty of Dzecko (sp?) any day

He got elbowed in the face.

Maybe but that's not the point. It was a red card offence but because it was Balotelli no action was taken. There was also very little media outrage unlike the time when Balotelli didn't stamp on Scott Parker.

On a similar note, had Balotelli cheated like Crouch I'd be fully expecting retrospective action and media outrage.

The rules of the game must be applied fairly and equally to every single player otherwise it's a sham.

Double standards by the british media spend all their time worrying about what Balotelli does on and off the field that they do not care when he is elbowed. We would have been in the midst of day 2 of the trial by SKY if this had been Mario dishing it out.
The only way Mario can win the press over is to go and hang out of his Brothers wife or get married and bang some bird behind his pregnant wifes back.
Because that is the lifestyle the press are happy for our footballers to lead.

That doesn't really help us though, because Stoke would just bring a replacement in who's just as good, and we lose the advantage we would have had of playing against ten men. The only answer to cheating/incompetent referees is Video Technology.
This is the biggest thing that is needed in football for me.

I actually get a bit fed up with people moaning about the refs after comments like "I've seen seven replays now and how the ref missed that I don't know"...well you've just answered that yourself you daft twat - the ref saw no replays! It is too easy for officials to miss incidents in football and it's making the sport a bit of a joke. Plus there are too many footballers who are diving wankers and it makes the officials job even harder.

Why 'goal line' stuff has been the big push is completely beyond me. You get a contentious goal line incident maybe once or twice a season, that's it. So it's barely important.

There should be a video ref at every game who is there to review direct incidents leading up to goals, penalty/no penalty decisions, and red card/not red card decisions.

The game would be infinitely better with it.

Once it comes in, if it ever does come in, it will be one of those things that people will say 'why the hell didn't we do this years ago?'. Just too many luddites and dinosaurs in high places standing in the way for it to happen at the moment. Yesterday was a perfect example of two game changing decisions that the officials got wrong, and this is happening in game after game, week after week. The technology is there to stop this happening, but we don't use it. It's a joke.
Advocates of that technology should consider how it's implementation will disrupt the flow of the game.

I believe the use of that tech would open the door to commercial breaks interrupting each 45 min. of play.

Smells like a racist double-standard to me.

It's latent racism, isn't it? Heaven or the ref forbid a black Italian can outplay one of the boys, let alone ALL OF THEM.

This is how the some idiotic Stoke fans viewed it;

From what I saw of it, and that was right in front of us, was that Balottelli was pushing to get past Wolko, and Andy raised his arm to approx half way up Balottelli's bicep. The twat then collapsed to the floor clutching his face. Cheating scum bag.

Wasn't even close to a yellow, let alone a red card!!!!
-----
The real question is 'why was Balotelli still on the pitch?'. He should have been dismissed in the first half for two outrageous dives, long before he dived to win the free-kick that they scored from.

Final result Stoke 1-0 Man City.

-----
I actually think Balotelli tried to go Wilko sent off. Ran into him, drew the inevitable "get the fuck off" reaction and threw himself to the ground expecting to see Wilko shown red.

Dickhead, plain and simple.

----

Maybe he should be banned but if so then Balotelli should get a ban too.

He barged into Wilko before the ball was in play.

He was deliberately trying to provoke a reaction, Wilko should be experienced enough not to react but, personally, on this occasion I find it hard to condemn him.

Mario has got a 'reputation' amongst pundits and, most importantly, Refs - I know he doesn't help his cause sometimes, but it really pisses me off as it simply isn't justified! Compare him with the antics of Charlie Adam - a player I grew to dispise after he signed for Liverpool - the persistent fouling he got away with last year in every game he played against us was a joke - again on Saturday, how he wasn't yellow carded first half is beyond me! Also, last season when Liverpool played Brighton in the cup, he blatantly stamped on a Brighton player... I waited for the media uproar and the Talkshite full-day character assassination... i'm still waiting for it!
Mario was elbowed on Saturday, whether there was much power in it or not, it was a clear elbow! Fuck all action taken... if it had been the other way around the press would have been campaigning for a ban.
The thing that really pisses me off with this incident is our club! Now I hate Baconface with a passion, but this is the sort of situation he handles well! Mancini should be all over the press, pressuring the Refs, highlighting what happened over and over and using it to our advantage in coming matches!
