Balotelli given number 9 shirt for Italy

Pleased for him that his country finally trusts him. I hope for him that he takes the euros by storm. Could be just the kick up the arse he needs.

Noticed, Sky the bastards, when they did the headlines this morning about arrests and more match fixing in Italy, they had their camera at the Italian traning camp and it was fixed on Balotelli for 15 seconds whilst talking about the headlines before a quick look at the manager

With all the racisim at the Euro's I worry about Balotelli most of all. He's not the calmest of people!

Can see him having a run in or three with a few of the cunts.

For his age, Mario's been quite exposed to hostile racism during his time in Italy so it isn't anything new to him.

I'm not saying any possible racism won't affect him of course it would, I think he is well equipped to deal with it if it happens

Dead right. His debut for Italy was a horrendous experience..away against Rumania or someone, but at a neutral ground.

Italian fans turned up with banners saying he couldn,t be Italian cos he was black..whilst the "home " support gave him monkey calls every time he touched the ball. He coped with it all admirably IIRC.

This match didn,t receive any coverage over here as engerland were playing at the same time-i watched it on a dodgy stream and to say it made uncomfortable viewing is an understatement.

Got a lot of time for Balotelli.anyone who can show desire to play for Italy, knowing that a good percentage of your own fans hate you for the colour of your skin is in my book a brave and determined soul. Having to apply to the authorities on three occasions just to be called Italian, after being knocked back on two occasions merely demonstrates that Mario is made of sterner stuff than a lot give him credit for.

Playing for your country is nowhere near as lucrative as playing for a premiership club, money is not the issue here..simply a desire to represent your country, and where Italy( and some of their fans) are concerned, that is no mean feat.

We all know that Balo responds well in big matches, here,s hoping he shows the world what a talented striker he is.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Balotelli has a good tournament. He knows he won't get away with half of what he did last season with us - the Italians just won't put up with it. He will have his 'good' head on in the Euro's and I have a feeling he will do well. Then wait for the transfer bids!

agree, racism doesn't seem to bother him and when he does implode it seems to be because of his poor performance or a particular opposition player.

on a side note, is this his first international tournament?

and on another side note, their game against luxembourg tonight has been cancelled due to an earthquake in parma
