Balotelli to Liverpool (merged)

With Mario you take the good with the bad both on and off the field. Liverpool are gambling on the basis his high profile will provide a commercial payback regardless of what he does on the field. They are lacking a star. Even if they get rid after a year, they will see it as a good deal.

The problem with Balotelli to me was never off the pitch but on the pitch where he could cost them dear. As often said, top players are those who most consistently put in 8/10 performances. Above this rating is a bonus.

It's already started, Brenda is getting annoyed about all the media attention. Can't wait to see him fighting with the big Nazi they have at the back..

Yes Brenda, it is all about Mario, kids aren't climbing on bins to see what Lucas & Glen Johnson are doing.

Love him or not, he's box office. Next move NYCFC. I predict in time for the 2015 MLS season.

Thats not a bad shout.

Maybe another side, but cannot see 'our people' putting up with his roadshow again. Lampard, Xavi, and Villa are professional adults, and that seems to form the basis of signings now.

Nice to see Rodgers already jealous of the attention Mario is getting. It won't end well.

Balloteli could be a godsend to cwymeawiverpool in as much as at least he's got a little charisma and a fit bird and he wont go off biting anyone in the near future.

Looking forward to him making his debut, I wonder whether he will be able to form an understanding with Sturridge, as both see themselves as the main striker, Mario isn't particularly suited to playing as a second striker so I expect Sturridge to get that role in a diamond formation. Although you wonder how such a system might cope against the new dynamic spurs.

anyone else think that Balotelli's tweet after the match, thanking the fans and gushing over the LFC shirt was a bit much? the bit where he put #YNWA at the end made me cringe

To be fair, I think gratuitous use of the YNWA tag is written in as a contractual obligation at the Dippers.
