After reading this i was thinking to myself Balotelli would never do that yet he is widely regarded as the worst behaved footballer in the world. I realize that Balotelli is a much bigger star than Morrison but still i can't really think of much that Balotelli has done that i thought was really bad. Stupid but not really bad.

I agree.

If Mario had done that, we would never hear the end of it.

The Scum, Fail and probably the rest of the tabloids would be calling for his deportation at the very least and more likely, his public execution!

They realise the talent that Mario possess at the age of 21 (22?), and because he is not English, they are doing their best to disrupt his career.

You need a Mario in your mob. He'd be the first over the fence robbin some old chaps crab apples.

And the one gettin caught when you smash some old folks windows in usin the skulls of their dead rottin partners, setting fire to their house, burnin them alive.

Those were the days.

The press don't like him, plain and simple.
He doesn't shag granny prostitutes, whilst his girlfriend is pregnant. Or shag his brothers wife, or avoid drug tests. Yet he gets more negative press than those that do.
The public love a villain, but not a British one playing for the rags.

He also gets more positive press than anyone else. He just gets more press than anyone else full stop.

Somehow he's thought of as one of the best players in the world when he's only just one of the best players on our bench.

Everything about Mario is way over the top; the shit he gets, the praise he gets, how good people think he is, how crazy people think he is...everything about him is overhyped.

He even asked the question "WHY ALWAYS ME?" himself as I don't think he understands everyone's obsession with him.

The problem with Mario is that City don't really seem to have an effective PR team in place. A lot of other players get away with all kinds of antics due to secret deals with papers and so on. I'm not saying that's right, but that's how it is.

Mario's biggest issue is the fact he refuses to do interviews. Naturally this makes people curious, hence why he's constantly hounded by the press.

If City's PR department knew what they were doing they'd get a grip of all the Mario stories and stop them being published - in return for an "exclusive" interview with Mario every couple of month.s

In conclusion it's not so much Mario's behaviour being bad, it's the inability and inexperience of those around him in handling the media that see him portrayed in the light he is. I think it's fair to say a lot of people out there like him, find him funny and would probably like to go out with a beer with him - the public don't demand negative stories about him, but the media has nothing but bad things and rumours to write about him.

With the right PR team in place Mario could be on par with the biggest names in football in terms of endorsements - the guy sells shirts and I'm sure his face plastered on fizzy drinks and boxer shorts would make a few sales. The problem is, no one at City knows how to handle a superstar in their midst. Hopefully they'll learn, and soon.
