Bar service at CoMS

The answer is simple - if you don't like it, don't buy it.

I do like it, but can't buy it cos of the queue.

I really get pissed off when I see people standing on the concourse drinking when the game is in progress. Is beer really more important than the game?

For the wolves game I left when the board at half time went up and got in the bottle bar queue. I only got my bottle when they were kicking off for the second half, and that's at the bottle bar which is s'posed to be quick. Do you think I'm gonna queue up for the best part of 20 minutes, pay 3.30 for a bottle then just chuck it in the bin cos I have to get back and watch the second half?

As far as suggestions are concerned, yes some railings should be put up to make decent queues and there should definitely be those mult-pint pullers. They should start pulling pints 10-15 minutes before half time and have a pre-pulled pint queue for those of us that are quite content to drink a pint that's been waiting a full 15 minutes and a separate queue for the fussy fuckers who want their pint pulled before their eyes

The price - surely these can be more resonable, we are more expensive than some London clubs, do we need the money?
The lager and bitter - taste bad (reading other comments it must be cleaning fluid, which is really bad...) much worse than last season? Loads of pumps not working and pressure is none existant.
Have asked bar managers about pre pouring drinks, everyone else does it whats the problem? The 'nobody would drink it' arguement is nonsense, try telling that to 50 blokes who have queued for 15 minutes and the game is about to start...
I asked once for lager and lime, was looked at like I was speaking a foriegn language, I could see a bottle of lime behind the bar, but nobody could figure out what I was asking for??? I gave up.
Queues - some idiots always push in, really causes problems, now if I was Bellamy lol
I have noticed that level 2 is much better than level 1, needs to be consistent (not sure about level 3).

I have (like most I suspect) given up even bothering now, cannot believe how bad it is...

one thing i realised at the arsenal match...city say they serve pints...but they actually serve 500ml of beer in a pint glass...not a huge difference...68ml, but that quite a lot over the course of a match day/season

Aint that against the law, if there not careful wont the weights and measure lot from trading stanards do them like they would do a normal pub.

Morning Chris,

Can I just confirm where and at what time is best to meet with you this evening and discuss all the issues raised, as I am now in a position to share with you some of the improvements we are looking introduce once we have been given the green light by the various authorities, and I would be happy for you to share them with the other supporters on the Bluemoon forum.

Regards

Just been sent this e-mail. I will report back with tonight's proposed improvements. Thanks for responses so far...

i worked on the stadium for the games when i was a floorlayer and again when city took over and i knew then that there would be a problem with the bars, (come from a pub background) i moved into the rising sun in hazel grove 6yrs ago and turned it into a blue pub but i lost it due to the credit crunch and the smoking ban, now out of work, i'd love to have a go at sorting the bars out, most of the quality problems are down to cleaning, as for speed, half size multi dispense systems deliver 24 pints to the bar in 12 secs, small investment, massive gain! i'll be there tonight, colin bell 130. pm me if i can help......

Get rid of anyone without English as a languauge. Not only is it creating a problem for fans wanting to buy a beer it doesn't help the English staff who work with them.
Give them proper training.
We actually have a 6 pint puller at the Bert Trautmann bar. It's never used. Apart from at the Arsenal game. And the only person who was able to work it was the English girl.
The others waited for her to start the machine up then stood waiting for the beers to come to them instead of cracking on and knocking some ''pints'' off at the pumps.
This poor girl was doing everything. Fans weren't giving abuse, just advice. like ''instead of standing doing nothing use the pumps''
They preferred to wait on the machine to give 1 guy 3 pints instead of using a pump to give the next guy 1.

It's been said alot but the more you repeat it to the manager the more it'll get across. 1 person at the back workin a multi pourer from 5 mins or so before half time.
Those big girls in the Kippax had it down to a tee. When you were a known face you could even prepay before the match and your beer would be ready at HT.

A queing system would be better as already said. I've had greif from people saying I'd pushed in when I was stood at the bar 5 mins before they arrived.

And fairer prices.
As with others I have never understood how they run out of pies. We can gauge how many we'll need from past sales.
I know it's all been said already but Had to get it off my chest after the Arsenal game.
One of those big girls (Red hair), was my sister Marie and she gave everything to that job. She knew exactly how to run that bar and had all the pints pre pulled from 3.20 onwards ready for half time. I worked on that bar with her after running my own bar on the 4th level kippax for about 8 years. Yes, we took orders, and if the beer was shit for any reason we gave you a free pint to replace it. Our bar was chocca as you knew you'd get served quickly and could get back to enjoying your pint with your mates. We had the same staff for years which helped, and she refused to take on any agency staff (although I'm sure there are some great workers on the books but we never discovered them!) as they were as slow as hell. She wouldn't close that bar until every last fan was served. Some of you may even remember that at the last game at Maine Rd she was giving everyone a free spirit of their choice with their pint, all out of her own pocket. I even ran out to the offy on Claremont Rd to get more bottles such was the demand.
She was a great barmaid and was repaid by being let go (sacked) at COMS after just 3/4 games to be replaced by a foreign agency worker.
You need continuity, maturity and grafters behind those bars, all which we were.

In the family stand concourse why not have a counter for the kids selling proper kiddy sweets and snacks and small bottles of different flavoured pop like the old panda pops
