With the onset of a major players picking up injuries before we have even kicked off, wouldnt it be a good idea for the club to cancel a pointless friendly match that can only serve the prurpose of even more potential injuries.

I understand the 'bigger picture' issues for the club, but from an EPL point of view, its a ridiculous fixture in our current situation and with injuries abound, it should be cancelled...................imo!

It is a fantastic opportunity for the new guys to bed in and it may well prove to be our new centreback's first game.

Besides I will be there so please don't cancel it!!

And to be fair to all blues making the trip, that would be the one and only valid reason for keeping it!!!

prepare for backlash off the fans that are booked and going ;)

although i fully understand your point mate

FFS Surely the opportunity to play the team together without any pressure outweighs the chance of further injury's.?? Apart from that we were invited to play in the Joan Gamper Trophy, this shows how much or stock has risen, Just look who normally gets invited.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Gamper_Trophy

Not getting your point really.
Why not play loads of 'no pressure' tournaments throughout the year then???

The EPL starts tomorrow and for the club, the fans, and particularly the manager and the short term future of the team, this is a crucial season. A good start is essential. A meaningless friendly only gives more opportunity of players being injured for the critical early games of the EPL.

Incidentally, i would not be saying the same if we had signed more players, or four of our 1st team were not already carrying injuries!

Even though its a friendly I wouls not say its meaningless. Barca are a massive club and im sure our players would love to play against some of the worlds best. I do agree that there is always a chance of injury but thats football. Beating Barca in on their own turf will give a massive boost to our players

Yeh, the fans going out there are probably not too happy with my opinion but how are we gonna feel if we go out there next week and one of our top boys picks up another injury?

If need be we'll play some young lads for experience. It's Ibrahimovic's debut for anybody going, that'll be good.

If we are playing the young lads, il be happy enough, but i cant imagine the 'tournament' (i have to use that word loosely) organisers would not be too happy.

I dont think its pointless, but I do think its a bit risky... However it would be horrible to cancel it some city fans will be looking really forward to it.

I hope you have a great trip btw who ever is going ;) ENJOY!

We don't call it the "EPL" in this country mate, that's just an American thing.

I thought that. I also noticed that the rags have never played in it which leads me to conclude that it's a waste of time and unimportant.

Neither have Chelski, Liverpool or Arsenal. In fact, no English club has played for this tropy for 23 yrs, so you could read that as how our standing within the game has changed.

Plus, how good would it be to go over there and be the first British club to ever win it.
