With the onset of a major players picking up injuries before we have even kicked off, wouldnt it be a good idea for the club to cancel a pointless friendly match that can only serve the prurpose of even more potential injuries.

I understand the 'bigger picture' issues for the club, but from an EPL point of view, its a ridiculous fixture in our current situation and with injuries abound, it should be
cancelled...................imo!

I believe Mammutley already started a thread on the same lines ages ago - so I'll post here what I posted there:

We were due to play Everton that day anyway so it really isn't that big a deal because we were already expecting to have a game. The flight is really short... probably quicker than travelling to the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea so the distance isn't a problem.

To be invited to play this match is a MASSIVE honour... this is not a meaningless friendly but the Joan Gamper Trophy. Gamper FOUNDED Barcelona and helped turn them into the club they are today. Under his presidency FC Barcelona won eleven Championat de Catalunya, six Copa del Rey and four Coupe de Pyrenées.

Traditionally this is THE curtain raiser for Barcelona and is when the new team is unveiled to the fans. That City have been chosen speaks volumes for our newfound status and really puts us on the global map.

So quit being a mard arse and just enjoy it... should be a cracking game.
