Real Madrid have a pull, but obviously they're not known for being cheap so they're not quite as bad as Barca in the above situation. In the case of Ozil, he was at the end of his contract at Bremen iirc (don't quote me on that) and I'm not sure about Sahin.

But again, Ozil is a case of RM being in for him, and him wanting to go, now I can't say how they went about approaching him, so it would be unfair to criticize.

If a player is on the last year he can say: "sell me to Real Madrid or I will stay here one more year and you will not see a pound".


And the other reason is about spanish market and the clubs financial situation. Premier league scouts and managers shoul look more at la liga players(and not only superstars like Silva, Mata, Cazorla, etc).

Yes, they are both trying to low ball, because money is getting tight. Doesn't mean they will get either of these two players. Give it 5 more years, with the increased EPL revenue and who knows how weak their position will be.
