Barcelona Best Team Ever ?

Agreed. Milan with Van Basten/Gullit etc were amazing, as were late 80s Liverpool, but the current Barca team are just phenomenal.

However, I've heard great things about a) the Madrid team of the 50s and b) the Hungary team of the 50s, but haven't really seen enough of either (apart from Hungary's demolition of England in that game). Anyone qualified to comment on these?

They're very good - one of the best - but not that good.

I wouldn't say the Spanish league is poor. Four of the last winners of the Uefa Cup/Europa league have been from La Liga (Valencia, Seville x2 & Athletico Madrid).

Even if the Spanish league was poor, there's six who started for Spain in the World cup final last year who played tonight. Add in Valdes, Alves & Messi and they are one of the best teams ever.

Brilliant again tonight.

For sure, but Barca are not better than their piers to the degree that the great 1970 Brazil side were. And that is the test. Imagine putting the 1970's Brazil side through the training regeimes that modern teams go through.
