I went for the city centre............just near the metro station £52 a room.
just on Expedia now so will look for hotels around that location!

L'pool 7am 18th -return 20th home for 23.45 into JL Int.
Booked into a B&B just off Diagonal 2 nights.
Including parking for 3 days at LJ Int £280 for me and the Missus.

Was there 2 month ago on a stag do and last summer on my honeymoon, top top place.
Deffo keep an eye out for pick pocets on Rambla's though - couple of us done phones and wallets - were bladdered though, easy targets!
As for beers, it's a sprawling City and we spent a lot of time wandering around just looking for groups of bars together suitable for lads, wasted a bit of time but still good crack.
If I were you I'd head off Rambla's and down to the port olympic, near the casino (cab about 10euro). Down by the little harbour (you can't see them from the pathway on top) are a group of about 15 bars side by side, we had cracking time. Don't get going til gone midnight but was mint. Head for Kennedys and take it from there!
