Barcelona Vs City Pre Match Thread

It pains me to say this but I'm dreading this match, which should never be the case for an occasion like Barca v City in the Champions League. It's not that I'm afraid we'll get smashed but the manner in which we'll probably play depresses me.

If we play to our strengths, set up our team correctly and our players implement a proper pressing game without the ball and play at a high tempo with it, then we have a chance.

Instead we'll probably setup 4-4-2, with Yaya and Fernando and surrender the midfield, leave the left sided centre back exposed as Kolarov gets caught up field and get constantly pulled out of shape with our two forwards isolated.

At the moment we have a manager who has very strong views on how his team should set up but without having players, either willing or able, to play in that set up.

Milner and Navas both have to play IMO, they provide the best covering of the flanks whilst still posing a threat going forward, hard working and disciplined. My midfield would therefore be

Kompany is only a midfielder on computer games

He's 10 times the player Fernando is, he played midfield for Hamburg and us (at beginning of MCFC career). He'd give the midfield a chance vs Barca but unfortunately our Manager will play to others advantages. Too pig headed to change.

He hasn't been a midfielder for quite some time, so its barking mad to ask him to do so at the Nou Camp when we need to score at least twice. That's not a "pig headed" manager, its the comment of someone clutching at straws.

the mother of all beatings is on the horizon, barca will be that far in front at half time, they will declare and make city play the whole of the second half against their B team, which they also go on to win by a cricket score, pellers will then say in his press conference that his team played well, had chances to score and this is important to take into the west brom game adding that his tactics of 4-4-2 worked well in the 15 minute interval when barca had no possession at all

Never been so apprehensive going into a City game before but I just can't see anything other then us being well beaten, I always try and be optimistic where City are concerned but I just can't see City doing what is necessary to qualify for the next round.
