In celebration of their destruction of united on Saturday night, me and the misses have bookled a three night trip to the home of the 2011 champions league winners. Apart from visiting the Nou Camp, which is naturally a given, anybody else any suggestions as where to go/places to visit etc.

Trip Advisor is your friend.
That Sagrada Familia cathedral is a must, as is all the Gaudi stuff. The olympic port is worth a visit and it's nice to see the Placa Catalunya and the Ramblas, although watch your possessions on the Ramblas, it's not all scaremongering when people say there are a few pickpockets about. What we did though instead of taking the tourist bus we just got an all day metro ticket for about 7 euros and did it that way, all the major sites have their own metro station.

As someone has said watch out for the pick-pockets. The nearer you get to the port going down La Ramblas the worse it is. You may well get stopped by a begger mean while someone is dibbing your pockets. It is rife

Have a wander around Barcelonetta. There are some great "local" bars and restaraunts there (watched the Madrid v. Barca game in one a few yrs back - taught the locals to call Alonso a "scouse wanker"!).
WHEN (no "if") you go back to Barca, there are some great apartments to hire in and around Barcelonetta too...
Also - the beach and walk along the front to the Olmypic Port are good...
Espanyols old ground on Montjuic is still worth a visit...

The open top tour buses are a great way to see the city,you can get on and off wherever you want.There are 3 routes and they are all interchangable. €23.00 each.Most ticket agencies sell them or from Barca Sants,the main station.Running commentaries in all languages inc Japanese.
Cable cars,Camp Nou,Cruise liners in the port,parks and gardens,food market on La Ramblas,loads to see and do.
Watch your bags,other than that,a great day out

truly one of the worlds best cities. wonderful architecture, a beach, the sea, the mountain backdrop, tapas, spanish gals, El Borne is just a wonderful area to wander, get lost, find a bar.....

The Tour Bus stops at the bottom of the steps, and also at the top. When I've been before you can just wander in to the Olympic Stadium. There's a cafe in there...but with Espanyol moving to a new ground I don't know if that's still the case.
If you walk away from the stadium towards the right, on the other side of the road, you'll see the outdoor pool - with the diving board that gave such amazing views of the diver on the top, and the whole city below in the background...
There's also a cable car from/to Montjuic...

Your hotels is the best way of booking tickets without queueing - we used the above and they were fantastic.
Itinery
1. On your first night, wait until it's getting dark and take Mrs Richard to Montjuic Fountain. It's a romantic way to kick off your City break. The light show is at certain times, just check before you set off what time the show is on during your first evening.
2. The next morning get up early. Sunshine? Start making your way to Park Guell. It's a fantastic park and the famous mosiacs brighten it up. You also get a fantastic view over the City. My highlight of the trip.
3. Later that day visit Casa Mila - a wierd and wonderful house thats back in the centre..
4. This will be your second evening. Go for a walk up La Ramblas. Go drinking and take in a meal along the way. Don't forget the more expensive restaurants are on this strip. If your after cheaper food, go down the side street or ask your hotelier for advice.
Try and book a tour bus for the morning.
5. Wake up and get on the tour bus. I'd recommend the red bus at the quay end of La Ramblas. Hop on and off at the following: Nou Camp(if you've booked advance tickets), Cable Car(only if already booked), and the massive Cathedral.
After this you'll be knackered. Stroll about. Go perve on the beach.
The shops aren't all that - my missus said that was the only disappointment. haha.

They sell the tour tickets at the box office window on the right hand side as you walk in the gate - opposite the front of the cafe/souvenir shop.
It's a top tour too - no guides, you just wander along a marked out route at your own pace...takes you up into the commentary boxes too! Make sur your camera is well charged up!
