Barking Up The Wrong Tree

Cocking hell it's gonna be the ball boys fault next, how's about sometimes teams don't play well, nothing like a good blame game is there...

Funny you should say that, I started a thread about our appalling ballboys last season. They've improved but not much.

I disagree, we are looking to finish with 82-86 points this season, which is an improvement on last season, and only 3 points off the title winning season, all in pellers first season as city manager, and a manager in england, with the lads warming to a totally different system. We have also bettered ourselves in the champions league, and should have gone further if it wasn't for cheating refs. We have also achieved all of this with major injuries to key players throughout the season. Also, IMHO, I believe that the quality of teams as a whole as sharply increased this season, the title a four house race for much of the season, nobody's been top for long, compared to last season when there was only united with enough to win it and the season before when it was just city and united.

So I reject your notion, the barca boys are doing a grand job, and together with pellers next season we will get even better. We can't win it every year, your expectations are too high, it's a gradual process.

EDIT: Also I bleeding forgot about the league cup.

In February even Alan Hansen was saying we were the 'Best Team on the Planet' ... at that time who could argue we were scoring for fun.. A free scoring City could steamroller anything in the EPL .

Our failure in the January window to strengthen key areas in defence and midfield have led us to where we are today with a squad looking like its run out of steam.

We gambled that we'd not get hit by injuries, suspensions, lost form etc. Something that was foreseeable when competing for four trophies knowing our core players were great but fringe players weren't trusted.

It may have been good business not to buy at that point or the right players weren't available ,or it could have unbalanced a winning team by bringing in new players but we've just basically run out of steam because of injuries, loss of form, bad luck, poor referees etc.

When the Sheikh meets with Txiki to review this Season (barring a miracle again) the January window should be where we look for underlying causes so we don't make the same mistake again....

Part of the problem is we signed 3 class players but didnt strengthen the squad no back up in key positions plus jovetic and agueros been out a while .Its easy to blame tixi or even the manager the players lack of motivation but at the end of the day we have played league ,league cup, fa cup ,champions league with no real quality strenghth in depth and this i feel has been the biggest contributor.

This is Txiki Begiristain first full season at City and most of his and Pellegrini's signings haven't done too badly for the club. Fernandinho has been a big plus, one of the candidates for City's Player of the Season. Despite his current loss of form Alvaro Negredo has shown glimpses he can cope with the English style of play. Martín Demichelis has shown why Pellegrini wanted him signed for City, despite taking a while to settle at the club. Navas is a good squad option despite his performance against Liverpool. Jovetic in his rare appearances for City looks a very good player and the only question mark is whether he can stay injury free to have a greater impact on our side.

Flag wavers have had a poor second half of the season.

Not saying I'm qualified, it's just my opinion. It wasn't about the Sunderland game per se but yes I was at it.

I qualified my rant by saying Manuel's done a decent job and that 80 odd points is a decent haul.

It's the strategy behind everything that I'm calling into question, the director of football role and the suitability of Txiki to fill such a role

What are your qualifications and experience in order to judge if he is suitable for the role or not? Have you run a major football club before?

Pretty daft comment that Mod

Didn't know forum members had to have experience of running a premier league club before being allowed to offer their opinion on matters.
