I though he looked like he's needed a rest for a while, as he has looked of the pace. He came back on Saturday, and looked like the player we know he can be.

I know Burnley didn't help their own cause, but a a few players who haven't been at the races for a few weeks turned up, and showed what we can actually do.

I also though Ade played really well, as he didn't drift out wide every 2 mins, and acted like a proper centre forward.

Hopefully we have the wind behind us now, as all the rest have been stunted this weekend.

What a weekend.

I think the guy has just been ragged out for both club and country and needs a bit of a break, he is still top quality and we should as a club give him our support.

Yes i think he benefited well from the rest... Barry has played almost all our matches this season so its good that Mancini sees this and gives the right player the rest when its needed...
and I hope de Jong gets a rest against Brum... after that his 9 yellow will be counted as 0 so he cant be penalised if he gets a yellow against scum or arse when we really need him...

Yep. He didn't play against wigan, as he was rested. Came back against burnley, and looked back to his best.

Driving runs from midfield, sharp passing. Lets hope he can keep it up until the end of the season.

I'd stick with Uncle Pat and Barry again.

People have been slating the fuck out of Vieira, but I reckon these last two games he has been sensational.

Burnley were shocked in 5 mins. Don't think it's reasonable to judge players performances in that game, but weather apart it was hugely enjoyable

Looked to me like Adebayor played as an out and out centre-forward with Tevez playing behind him. That's ideal for the players, and helps out our midfield where without Ireland and Robinho we don't have anyone who can do that (Potentially SWP could do that?)

Vieira may have played very well against a shell shocked Burnley but he was dreadful against Wigan on Monday.

I'd love to dig up them "if he wants champs league football why is he joining city , they will never make it into top4" quotes from when he signed, dont hear that much these days do you?

Imo he played well in both

He played well against Burnley, but against Wigan I was embarrased for him, I couldn't believe a player that was one of the best in the world could be as shit as he was. I'd keep him in too though after his Burnley performance.

Barry did need the rest on Monday and it paid off for us, I don't think he's been as bad as people make out but at the same time he hasn't been great, but like Vieira had a very good game on Sat. His pass for Tevez's goal went unnoticed by many too. Great vision and good technique.

I would say 2 assists proves you wrong!!

I don't get the logic. Most of the season the squad only play 1 game a week, people said Barry looked tired even so. Now he's rested in a midweek game - Barry still played last weekend, he had the usual 6 days rest like he has had most of the season. This isn't FM or Fifa where a player get fatigue bonus by being on the bench.

Sure, the opposition players might be more tired by playing midweek but Barry still needs a real rest (according to people here, I'm not sure if he magically gets better by just resting, he's had 6 days rest tons of times this season already).

I agree the whole team had a 2 week break after the chelsea game, and we only played 4 times since then, not exactly much to ask a FOOTBALL PLAYER to play FOOTBALL once a week

When paired with NdJ either of Barry and Vieira has too much to do as de Jong contributes nothing going forward. As a result their game suffers and they look very ordinary.

I agree with Wheelsy and would go with GB and PV every game from now on with the exception of the derby where I'd add de Jong for a bit more protection.

There's always talk about Barry's rest but when did he play really good? The first month? Or less? Shouldn't he be able to play at least a couple of months before getting tired?

I don't think Barry is a shit player but I don't see how much better he can get. Personally I think it's in his head, he just doesn't seem to have the drive for example Carlos, Bellamy or other winners has. When he loose a ball he doesn't seem to care that much. He seems as shy on the pitch as he is in the interviews. He had a great season in Aston Villa but just look at what happened with Stevie (which I hope will come good) this season after his great last year.

When are people expecting Barry to get a rest? In the summer, during World Cup? ....

Barry is a good player but I don't see him as a great one. I'm a City fan and I'll support him no matter what in the matches, but a part of me hopes we'll find a better midfielder next season (if we reach CL that is, Barry is absolutely top-6 material but we want to reach further than that).

Barry started off his city career like an house on fire, then suddenly he went shit, then got a bit better, then went not to bad again, then went shit, then became class again, then went average, and now better again!

i think that rest did him well, i know it was Burnley but he still played really well, you can only play against what's put infront of you.

How on earth can you say he doesn't care that much if he loses the ball? Because he doesn't start having a dickie fit, shouting and swearing like some of them do?

Barry gets on with his job quietly but effectively and very often his hard work gets over looked. Granted he's not the fastest of players but what he does, he does well.

I think Barry looks better in a team that is more offensively minded, rather than one sitting back and playing it cagey. Look at his performance for England v Ukraine. Quite average to poor first half. One of the best on the field after they scored and England had to go for it.

On another note, anyone for pissing Moyes off even further by putting in a summer bid for Arteta? I know there will be those looking for 'superstar' big name players if we make the CL, but this guy is class, and is proven in the PL. Everton aren't the same team without him and/or Cahill.

To say barry doesnt give a shit is stupid. He might not fly about the pitch doing hero tackles but he always works hard to win the ball back and does get quite animated, he probaly swears at the ref as much as bellamy, you should try watching a player before making stupid comments about him.

With another quality midfielder in there he'll be a great defensive midfielder.
