Barton at Wolves, and Wolves Henry {merged}

Wolves fan in peace here, i came across this thread and thought i'd give my point of view. Obviously you lot didnt see the match yesterday so are just commenting on what you saw on Match of the day but Barton definately gave as good as he got. And when shearer said that was his first tackle and he got booked, absolute rubbish, it was a good full throttle game of football with both smith and Barton giving Henry as good as he gave out. Out of the tackles Henry did on barton there were only about 2 were he actually didnt get the ball. I like Barton though, good player and not afraid to put his foot in where it hurts which resulted in a crackng match

They'd obviously targeted him, but that's the way it's gonna be some days for Joey, he's made his bed and he's gonna have to lie in it. I was always a fan of his myself, he's sthe sort of player you want in your team sometimes. Come derby day, I was happy to have him in the team - a player with the aggression and arrogance to stand up to the rags and kick the cunts, that's what you want! He should have won player of the season the year he was top goalscorer but of course sir richard of dunne was a shoe in for it once again.

If Joey would have kept his head down he could have been very useful to us the past couple of years. In Hughes' first season, we were desperate for a player like Joey, absolutely desperate. We were far too lightweight with SWP, Stevie and robbie the rat in the team and we could really have done with a box to box midfielder like Joey to do the simple stuff and rough teams up, just do a basic job really. I think he would have revelled under Hughes' management as well. In fact, it's only since this summer now we've signed Milner and Yaya that someone like Barton wouldn't actually be of that much use to us. Obviously you can't defend some of his behahiour but I think that the Dabo incident in particular was born out of frustration and if we'd have got the takeover whilst he was still here it could have been a very different story.

The January transfer window when he said he wanted out was a very depressing time for our club, but Ill remember Joey for the derby day equaliser when I was watching it in the Sawyers. Unfortunately I can't find the pic of him telling the rags to shush after he scored, but if anyone can post it it'd be much appreciated

Was always my favourite player and Im glad hes getting some respect now to be honest. Used to love turnign up to the games and seeing the the grass was wet because you knew some fucker would cop one off barton in those conditions. During the pearce era he was easily our best player and I could go as far as saying he kept us up, remember fulham away in particular when he was outstanding and blackburn away in the FA cup when the whole stand was singing theres only one joey barton! Quality.

Fairs do's mate, as you have come in peace we will not turn on you !! Yes I suppose we are commenting on what we saw on MOTD and they are like any other media organisation, they will twist anything to make a story. You were there and saw the full 90 minutes so there is another side to it, AND as long as Mick is your manager I for one will have a spot spot for Wolves.

Alright player, in a god awful team as were back then, even alright looks good. But to say we stayed up because of him?! We looked much better with Johnson and Ireland in midfield, and once Barton came back we looked imbalanced with all 3 squeezed in. We beat West Ham away and Everton at home without the great lord Barton (who was suspended for getting stupidly sent off in the dying moments in a 2-0 home loss to Bolton, but he saved us right?), who we should all bow down to for leading us to salvation. But hey, he puts in a few crunching tackles, and swears at people, so a fantastic stalwart.

Just another Wolves point of view.

Match of the Day never in my experience gives a fair reflection of a game. Barton and Smith gave as good as they got yesterday. It was a good full blooded game, which the referee tried his best to ruin.

On another note, my Wife is a Manc and therefore a big city fan, so you're kinda my second team, hope you can make the top four with us this season :D

Hoping to make my first trip to Eastlands this season!

always liked joey,was our best player regularly,tough as they come and i always thought of him as "one of us" despite his scouseness.
let himself down tho . . .should of proper clattered that dirty wolves twat!
