I think he knew he was never going to be a great player, and he was only too aware of that fact. He knew his options were limited so instead of going for fame he went for notoriety.

It's not a very nice thing to say but I honestly don't think he's going to make old bones. He's trodden on too many toes to end his days in a comfy old armchair, living out his remaining years in peace.

He's just the sort of person that you know is never going to see 50.
