Bastian Schweinsteiger injured

Good news for us but tbh i cant see Bayern playing a full string for their last game anyway, especially when they could be paired with the likes of Barca and AC Milan etc. They are safely through so why bother with the "stars".

How/when did he break his collarbone?

-- Fri Nov 04, 2011 7:16 pm --

How/when did he break his collarbone?

He is to Bayern what Silva is to you. Except they're completely different players, they have the same "make it work" effect.

Also hideniton isn't Robben back for them now, meaning he'll almost certainly feature on the right wing? If thats the case you can expect them to play a very tight game in the middle of the park (especially attempting to deprive Silva of space) and hit you on their incredibly strong wings.

True. I almost forgot about Robben. He's currently making his way back from injury and began training a few days ago so he'll propably be a starter in the city vs. bayern match. Alaba or Müller benched for him then since Kroos has been performing quite well recently. Can't imagine a CM pairing Tymoschtschuk/Gustavo though. That lack of creativity and pace in the middle would deprive them of control which is essential for their A Game. Gustavo/Kroos seems like the most balanced pairing to me when it comes to defensive stability mixed with pacy ball distribution so their starting linup should look something like this:

-------------Gomez---------------
Ribery--------Müller--------Robben
------Gustavo--------Kroos-------
Lahm--Badstub.--V.Buyten--Rafinha
--------------Neuer---------------

Pretty offensive approach to an away game but it would certainly do for some nice attacking football and it plays to their strengths.

Bayern have VERY strong wings, but frankly I'm not worried about that. Richards will completely neutralize Ribery and Clichy should be able to do the same with Robben.

The more I think about it, the more I see how loosing Bastian is a huge blow.
I think we have a good shot at taking three point from them at the Etihad as we seem to raise our game against top opposition and for important matches.
I'd say a fully fit Bayern is among the top four or five clubs in the world. But so are we.

Thank fuck he's injured, he's like Bayern Munich puppeteer, never nice to see a player injured (roonaey the exception) but he pulls the strings in that Bayern side.

Didn't Ribery take the piss out of your right side in the first leg? Robben is better (IMO anyway). That said, without Schweinsteiger they'll have a lot of trouble controlling the game, and certainly wont be able to dictate play like they did for large parts of the first leg.

I predict a draw.

A very very impressive player, and it is a huge shame we won't get to see him play in the flesh , afterall that's what you wanted by getting in the champs league. Wether he would have played if they have qualified is another debate, but shame either way if we don't see him play
