So where you say Oasis were a Beatles tribute band (Oasis were far more rock orientated than The Beatles ever were, apart from the odd track, I don't think they're anything like The Beatles and find the comparison a false cliché),

It certainly is inaccurate to claim them to be mere Beatles ripoffs,I agree.Noel Gallagher was quite happy to rip off and blatantly plagiarize the work of a wide variety of artists that weren't just limited to The Beatles.
