Battle of the XI's - part 2: La Liga v Prem v Bundesliga

Boateng isn't very good at defending either :) was going to put Xhaka in, he would have made my bench.
Boateng is easily one of the top 5 defenders in the world and has a record to show for it. You don't do what he has done in the last 4 years without being able to defend. He is also one of the best ball playing defenders out of there. I would say the most underrated centre back out there.

The teams he plays for actually leave him far more exposed than other teams and he copes very well most of the time.

Have to disagree, he's alright domestically when Bayern can dominate games but in the bigger champions league games he's worth a goal match to the opposition. Gets far too many red cards as well.

Premier League

-------------Courtois

Zabaleta------Kompany------Koscielny---Kolarov

-----------Schweinsteiger------Yaya-----

Hazard----------------------------------------Silva

-----------Aguer------------Costa

Bundesliga

---------Neuer

Lahm-------Boateng----Hummels----Alaba

Robben-----Vidal------Gundogan----Reus

------------Muller-------Lewandowski-----
Schweinsteiger Pmsl

The red card criticism is a fair point since he is a hot head, but he is not exactly exposed in the CL. Bayern are exposed, because of Pep's stupid tactics. Even then he has done well. I don't think any defender can manage defending one on one against Messi from the half line, whilst Neymar and Suarez are also being defended one on one. He has done very well with Germany too.
Schweinsteiger Pmsl
I stand by Schweinsteiger. He is not fully fit yet and will miss a lot of games, but he is getting there. He is the captain of the world champions, the favourites for the Euros and played fairly well yesterday.

Stand by it all you like, it's ludicrous.
Have you got any reasons to suggest it is ludicrous? Even half fit United's problem has not been the midfield. They tend to dominate good possession. Striker is atrocious and attacking midfielders don't do enough.

You can question the amount of games he will play, but what has Schweinsteiger done in the last couple of years to suggest he is behind the likes of Matic and Fernandinh?

Because he's not in the top two DM's in Manchester, let alone in the league.

Matic is far better as well.

Premier league -

Courtois

Zaba Kompany. Koscielny. Azpilacueta

Matic/Dinho

Yaya. Silva

Sanchez. Hazard

Aguero

I'd say....
PL:

Hart
Zabaleta, Kompany, Koscielny, Azpilicueta
Matic Toure
Sanchez Silva Hazard
Aguero

Bench: Courtois, Coleman, Mangala, Fernandinho, Fabregas, De Bruyne, Costa
So hard to omit players such as Sterling and Kolarov but trying not to be biased. When you actually break down our squad with our rivals position by position, it is a bit staggering how far ahead we are from them.

La Liga:

Diego Alves
Juanfran, Pique, Godin, Marcelo
Busquets
Iniesta Modric
Messi Suarez Ronaldo

Bench: Ter Stegen, Ramos, Alba, James, Neymar, Griezmann, Bale
La Liga is far and away the most top-heavy league in Europe. This team wouldn't even include Dani Alves, Varane, Kroos, Koke, Rakitic, Benzema, etc. either.

Bundesliga:

Neuer
Lahm, Boateng, Hummels, Alaba
Lars Bender
Goetze, Muller
Robben, Lewandowski, Reus

Bench: Leno, Benatia, Rodriguez, Gundoguan, Calhanoglu, Aubameyang, Douglas Costa
Littered with Bayern but that's to be expected. The Bundesliga doesn't seem to have many great defenders.

I'd say it goes:
1. La Liga
2. Premier League
3. Bundesliga

It should also be noted how the breakdown of representation goes:
Bayern Munich (10)
Manchester City (9)
Barcelona (8)
Real Madrid (6)
Chelsea (6)
Borussia Dortmund (4)
Atletico Madrid (3)
Bayer Leverkusen (3)
Arsenal (2)
Valencia (1)
Wolfsburg (1)
Everton (1)

Just so happens there aren't any Rags or Dippers either...

De Gea
Zabaleta
Kompany
Koscielny
Kolarov
Matic
Yaya
Cazorla
Silva
Sanchez
Aguero

Diego Alves
Dani Alves
Ramos
Godin
Luis
Mascherano
Kroos
Iniesta
Messi
Ronaldo
Suarez

Neuer
Lahm
Boateng
Naldo
Alaba
Martinez
Vidal
Gundogan
Reus
Robbed
Muller
