ok SWP lets just agree to disagree, after all thats what a fans forum is for

Look fella, I am not being funny but you can't back your theory up with any form of argument.

A ballot would take away the clubs ability to increase attendances at low demand matches and its ability to increase revenue through the clamor for paid loyalty points. The current situation is a business model used to maximise revenue at all matches based on its ability to increase demand. A ballot would do away with that completely.

And it's not just Danny Wilson I've heard this off by the way but a senior partner at my firm.

Has anyone got any idea how many points the Thomas Cook trips get down down to? 2 or our group have 3000 & I am wondering if we stand a chance getting on the official trip.

the ballot will take place in future, it will have to, we now have people with high number of points on gold cards and a lot of people have opted for platinum so in theory over a couple of years they will catch up on points...like i said give it a couple of years...we will have no choice, just like trafford...and i dont understand this question about making money of a ballot, if you have 3000 tickets to sell you can sell them to blue card holders, you still only get money for the 3000 tickets..so if they go to a ballot or not its the same amount of money

Oh jesus, I didn't think I'd have to explain it. Right, with a ballot, everyone has the same chance of going. With loyalty points, the club can (and does) charge for people to get extra points (platinum etc). They add double points on less glamorous ties etc (as seen last year in europe). By doing so (as people want to increase their points), then the club brings more money in and can get people to buy tickets for less attractive games.

If a ballot was introduced (which will never happen), then the club can't ever make any extra money and have no carrot or stick to get people to go to Burnley at home in the CC etc.

What the club may do is bring in a rolling 10 year period (or something similar) on loyalty points or just wait until the older SC holders die off and have a natural cycle.

One thing the club have absolutely no intention of ever doing (and has never even been discussed - yes I am ITK on this as I have asked on several occasions) is introducing a ballot.

The rags can do it as they have 99% full housees every game and 300m (hmm) fans to call on.

United have a loyalty pot...it's not random.

Actually it's not for the vast majority (I think they have a very small loyalty pot from years ago but it's only about 100 people or so). Colleague at work has a season ticket at the swamp and has to apply for each away game via a ballot. He's got 1 away league in the last 12 months + the semi, it's all random for the majority over there.

After reading this thread I am not sure wether im more worried or not. Got 5900 points and hopeful of a ticket, fingers crossed!!

I will wager one months pay that there will not be ab ballot on the basis that the club sold loyalty for going into the cup schemes and announced that fans in the european cup scheme will get first dibs on the away tickets....Ballot...my fucking arse!
