Very professional from start to finish. We clearly set out to quieten the crowd and the Bayern team....we were comfortable most of the time and were clearly happy to let them have lots of possession in areas which were no danger...we defended well when we had to and took our chance....
We have rarely if ever seen that type of performance from a Pep team while he has been with us and we are showing we can manage games instead of just going for it in every game....I think a forward like Haaland allows a team to play like that if we wish
Bayern can have zero complaints - they werent good enough either attacking or defensively (and if we had attacked like we normally do in the second half we would have scored more)...their team and manager were classless in how they acted in both games (and seeing the face on Khan in the stands was brilliant) - their ego took a hell of a beating in that game at the Ethiad and they never recovered from it. Thats what playing in a one horse league does to you (think i heard that they have won 10 straight German championships - that is the definition of a one horse league)
Bernardo was absolutely class in everything he did and was MOTM for me
on a side note a thought the rule was that if the ball comes off another part of the body and then strikes hand or arm then its not a penalty? the ball hits akanjis hand but it clearly spins up off his foot when he goes to block the cross.
Thought both penalties were harsh to be fair but other than that thought the ref did well and especially took no shit from the Bayern players (especially at the start of the game where he clearly booked Cancello for a series of cynical fouls by different Bayern players) in the space of a few minutes.
