Rafa Benitez when he was serving balls .
Rafa Benitez when he was serving balls .
He didn't.Didn’t think he picked up a yellow?
I don't think we were let off the hook, we played the game near perfectly, we stood up to the task, you don't beat teams of this level without suffering. Bayern are a better team than Madrid, but Madrid are wiser. Also for me playing away first is much better, look at last season.Don't believe the hype, we are nowhere near previous levels.
Timing is everything and we may just have it on our side, but ignore the hype train.
We got a chasing last night, certainly first half and were let off the hook.
Dias and Bernie had to compensate for some very below-par showings from Ake, Gundo, Kev and Rodri.
Still huge games to come in between and would have preferred Madrid at home for first leg, like Bayern, try and wipe them out.
No away goal means that whole playing home second is no advantage.

Great performance over two legs to knock out one of the teams in Europe.
This is the top level and we are always learning.
This wasn’t Leeds or Forest at home.

He’s another one that will not get the plaudits he deserves for last night, especially given the challenge of playing on that bog. You're right, it was Ake and Laporte.
Akanji was the one who had it hanging over him.
Zinchenko and Saliba are out for them, these things happen.
Over 2 legs Bayern were well beaten.Prior to the red card incident, both Sane and Musiala should both put their chances away.
If they were intentional tactics, I dare say Pep wouldn't have felt the need to get Bernie and Jack to afford the wide areas more protection.
I considered neither to be penalties, but that is just my interpretation of the game and the race to the bottom of how the officials see things.
Seconds to Haaland's goal, Eddie pulls off a good save and Bayern have nobody in the six yard area following up.
Don't get me wrong, with three goals banked, we could afford a margin of error, and we had other gears to go to, but my view is Bayern over the two legs could just as easily be claiming the semi-final spot if they had a finisher.
From where I am sitting this honestly sounds like a great time.In Prague now no sleep train delayed then 6 hours on it marvellous
The Fat Spanish Waiter, Hola Madrid!Rafa Benitez when he was serving balls .
Can they overlap though?Foden left back , Jack in front?
That said I would still start him in MadridOne thing that's got me feeling more optimistic about facing Real Madrid this time is that we've moved on from relying on Walker. Last season, the fate of that tie basically hinged on whether Walker was fit to face Vinicius, and we went to shit at the back whenever he wasn't involved. It turned into a shoot-out. We conceded six goals across both games and they were all let in while Walker wasn't on the pitch. As soon as he went off injured in the 3-1 away leg last season, Cancelo got moved over to RB and we all know how that fucking went. Whereas this time, we don't need to overplay Walker in the league or rush to get him fit and, on this occasion, if we lined up with a back four of Stones, Akanji, Dias, and Ake/Laporte, I don't think there'd be much cause for panic. It means we can play Walker to try and contain Vinicius but he's not absolutely essential to how we function defensively.
So you're basically saying we beat one of the best teams in Europe last night without playing our best? I think that's fucking great news, especially as we are getting better and better under our new system and with a new stiker.Don't believe the hype, we are nowhere near previous levels.
