Moscow is a kakhole, went with England a few years ago trust me you don't want to go. It would also cost a small fortune

I am led to believe that a Visa to enter Russia can cost around £140. Do they do a cheaper one for short stay Soccer fans?

It was about £65 for a one month visa (that was almost 4 years ago now).
And I'll second berryblue's sentiments, absolutely awful place, certainly I'm in no hurry to return.

Re: Champions League Travel

I've started putting up possible opponents' guides at mancityaway.co.uk

They're not all perfect as I'm having some issues with the font size, but the information is all there.

I'm having to wait until after Tuesday's and Wednesday's play offs games to put all of the guides up as we won't know who City can possibly draw until after those games, but I hope these provide useful in the meantime:

You can get visas for cheaper than that.

A lot of it depends on how much time you have and how risky you want to be with sending off your passport.

I'll explain it all in the guide to CSKA Moscow when I put it up later.

-- Tue Aug 23, 2011 10:49 am --

I quite enjoyed the centre but the outskirts were just lawless.

We got there for £90: £15 return flights from Liverpool to Stockholm, then £25 return flights from Stockholm to Riga, then a 17-hour each way return coach to Moscow costing £50 return.

That coach was hell on earth.

But you're right...Thomas Cook packages would proably start at £600.

Those guides are going to be really helpful thanks.

I would like to remind people at this stage that if you are making your own arrangements for getting to aways, wait until the dates are confirmed by UEFA or another reputable source. If you book you flights on the principle we will be away to the team from pot 2 in the first game and so on and then it turns out differently, I for one will have no sympathy.

Patience is a virtue.

Says on that website the fixtures will be out about 19:00 that night.

That's certainly been the case in the last five years.

It's a really odd evening as the match list just suddenly appears on the UEFA website and then there's a mad rush for flight bookings.

You see flights on certain routes go up from £10 to £100 in minutes.

It's worth keeping an eye on journalists' twitter accounts as, last year, they published fixtures before UEFA did.

First away trip is Bayern Munich on 27th or 28th of September.
