Are you cultivating cannabis?
your trying to catch me out aint ya

If you don't own a television, and are not growing cannabis, you have nothing to worry about.
If you are cultivating cannabis, then PM me and you can come round to mine and watch the television,as I have both a television and a licence, but sadly no cannabis.
I feel a mutually beneficial compromise can be reached here.

It's not the BBC it's the TV licensing authority. They are complete toe rags. Even if you don't have a means of watching live broadcast television through television or other electronic devices at your address and tell them so, they still keep sending letters even if you write to them. I wrote to them telling them to stop harassing me and they still sent demands.

I could go fishing on the local lake but the fishing club don't keep sending me a demand for a rod licence just in case I wanted to partake.

Then when I did move into a house I'd been renovating for 2 years and got the licence on 29th December before I moved the TV in on the 1st Jan (a bank holiday) I found that my licence expired on 30th November. It pisses me off that they get a month extra out of me each year just because I went by the rules and wouldn't risk getting the licence 1 day after I moved in on 2nd Jan.

made me laugh nf sadly dont grow any nor smoked any for 2 years.your right about the authority carver but i think the beeb pay them bonus for each license and your right about sending them letters.they take no notice of them.they only stop once they have been into your abode, but they need a warrant for that.to get a warrant they need proof you are using a tv. i think im right in thinking no warrants have ever been issued

Seeing as the thread was started after midday, I'll bite. The last time I looked, if you have a televison, you need to have a licence. It may be boring but it's the law, unfortunately.

But we have established that the op does not own a television.
He also has no cannabis, which is where I lost interest in the thread.

Even if the op owns a TV he does not need a TV license.

He may use it to watch DVDs, play games, watch BBC iPlayer post broadcast shows without the need for a license.

You need a license only to watch live TV as broadcast.

Anyone who thinks differently is plain wrong.

He has internet access, the internet can be used to watch live broadcasts, therefore he needs a TV licence.
