Does all 100% of the licence fee go to the BBC?

For something I very rarely use 12 quid a month is steep.

40p a day is steep?

From the licensing authority site

If you own or possess a television set without installing or using it as a TV receiver (e.g. you only use it to watch videos or DVDs, or as a monitor for a games console) then you don’t need a TV Licence.

and

If you are using the BBC iPlayer to watch programmes on-demand i.e. after they have been shown, you do not need a TV Licence.

Any store selling a TV has to inform the licensing authority of the buyers address or they get a £1,000 fine.

All well and good, but what if I'm to buy a second hand TV, will the authorities have my address?

The authorities assume everyone has a TV. There is nowhere to hide.

I have friend who lives without electricity never mind a TV. She still gets warning letters.

The authorities will soon know everything by monitoring your emails, texts and internet usage, be careful Bluemooners!

If you don't need a license, then why do stores ask for your address at the checkout, and if you haven't got a license at that address, they cannot sell you the tv?

What a load of shit (Coming from someone who bought a TV about 4 weeks ago)
I'm not talking about Aldi or Lidl mate, proper electrical stores (and that's coming from someone who doesn't buy on the cheap) No, seriously this has happened a few times to me.

I used to work in Currys and the taking of your address is not for the TV licence but for the Company of Currys itself..

You're within your rights to refuse to give your details, as it is not a legal requirement by the company to pass on information about you buying a tv... They simply sell on your details to the TVL as every other company/retailer does the twats.

Does she live in one of the 'occupy' movement tents?
