BBC licence fee

As a staunch supporter of the BBC I am starting to agree with the buffoons on this thread - make the BBC subscription only just as soon as they can develop the necessary software so you only get access if you can prove you are - say a PIN number only access.

Then you can say bye to all BBC channels. Hate MOTD? No worries pay many times more to subscribe to SKY Sports, BT Sports, Apple TV and so on so you can watch the dippers vs the bar codes live. Any BBC produced content on other channels in PIN protected - bye bye Gold and DAVE amongst others. All that Attenborough on Nat Geo and the like - nope sorry.

All national radio stations PIN protected so you'll never know whether Rule Britannia will ever be sung again at the Proms - you can listen to Pavarotti's greatest hits on Classic FM instead. Hate Talkshite? Sorry but no 5Live commentaries so Talkshite is your port of call in the car for live commentary of the rags vs Fulham - forget any live cricket, tennis, Rugby League and Union.

Export Sounds and the iPlayer onto Britbox - subscription only...... yeah I am sure the haters will love it - no overpaid Zoe Ball as they sit there listening to Heart FM.......piss boiling as they complain the BBC has gone elitist.

forgot to add you'll always have the EFL on Quest too

Don't care what Sky or BT pay as we do not fund them as they have a business model that suits their income. Unlike the BBC who are funded by taxes from ordinary folk who can barely afford the tax, and yet Lineker can post shit on your favourite media forum mocking those very same poor tax payers. You disappoint me I was under the illusion from other threads that you care socially about normal folk.

The value provided by the BBC across all platforms is beyond compare. In a socially respectable way the BBC operates to serve everyone regardless of age, profile etc than any other broadcaster as I have posted above. The future can be sorted to suit the haters but then they will just hate the fact that the BBC has to be paid for by themselves rather than spreading the cost across society. If you are really concerned about wasting taxpayers money turn your ire and vitriol on the billions being shovelled illegally to Government friends and supporters - Dido Harding has probably netted more than Lineker in a few months for royally fucking up Track and Trace but hey you fall for the distraction and hate the BBC - Johnson relies on people that are doing that.

You need to stop your obsession with Twitter its blinding your opinion. I never said I hate the BBC, the BBC is an institution stuck in the past, it's 2020 where business models have moved on to sustain it and not taxing poor folk and OAP's to fund Lineker and his ilk. What has track and trace got to do with all this? Next you will be blaming Brexit have a day off.

I have always supported the BBC but really feel they are in a difficult place right now. They are trying to balance the view across a wide political spectrum and as a country we vary significantly even between a progressive London and the rest of the country.

That being said they do fulfil a vital role in impartial news coverage which is recognised internationally.

I'm on the fence.

If you want impartial news coverage watch Al Jazeera, BBC lost it circa 2016.

Think he's only on £1.3m now; he's had to take a 25% pay cut.

haha i wonder why he chose to stay. possibly because he knows he isnt worth anywhere near £1.3m. they should have offered all these so called celebrities £150k each and if they dont like it they can leave. how can a part time news reader and sports presenter be on so much more than the PM? its all public money, our money!

I don't know what the going-rate is in the private sector but some of them salaries are ridiculous.

Does anyone watch MOTD because of Gary Lineker or like me, do they tune in to watch the football?

They could employ a local journalist on £22-23k per annum for every local authority in the UK if they got rid of the deadwood on that rich-list.
There is no reason at all to pay Lineker around £2 mill a year for MOTD and commenting on a few other matches, virtually anyone could do it. He has no discernible talents, and as you say, we tune in for the football, not to see him.
