They actually went to a different Christmas Market earlier in the trip but were having lunch and shopping right by the market where this latest atrocity has been perpetrated.

living in Berlin i was on a christmas market today, luckily one in eastern Berlin. But there so many in town, how to protect them all? The one at Gedächtniskirche is just one near a big street, unlike the others

Times like this the BBC's pretty robust demands for broadcast are a benefit to them, namely important stuff.

He claimed to be some sort of security expert but seriously said that if there was any intelligence that Christmas markets in Europe could be targeted by terrorists then none of them should have taken place this year. Cos obviously they wouldn't just switch to other targets, the fucking loon.
