BBC - possible sanctions

The way the "beeb" has gone about the Ade/VP coming together is totally out of order.
Yesterday on MOTD2 during the Fulham- Everton match, I saw two players come together, one was carried off the field of play on a stretcher because the other player went in with his studs up. Has anything been made of this?
To answer my own question, no it hasn't.
Why not?
Because football is a physical game and accidents happen

I'd rather not act like Ferguson. If I was Hughes I'd just forcibly remark on how over the top and hysterical the press have been and poke fun at some of the dross being put in the papers. Hughes has knack of making wishy washy statements like "maybe the media are being a tiny bit unfair....." which I find a tiny bit frustrating tbh.

Not being naive at all. Of course all the press coverage might influence any decsions taken re the punishment. That's life now and we have to accept the consequences of ill judged actions and not start with childish reactions like baconface.

No reason to just sit back and accept it though.

We'd be negligent if we didn't take some sort of action to turn this coverage around.

Making futile attempts at " some sort of action" as you put it are more likley to be counterproductive. And who is WE anyway. Are you suggesting that City make big statements against anyone perceived to be going OTT. Can you not see how that would come across?

Not a good idea, in my view. We'd only be taking the Taggart way of doing things ('If you have an opinion that differs with mine I won't talk to you anymore').
If (as seems likely) Ade is punished for the stamp then we just have to accept it and get on with things. But if I were a member of City's staff I'd scrutinise every single rash challenge carried out in the Prem and demand action against that particular player as well.

If they ban Ade for 3 or 4 games then I shall be looking forward to what happens after the derby, after the Ayatollah has demanded his lackeys go out and maim our players, we'll see how the press react then.

I wonder how City fans would have reacted if Shrek had done something similar?

It does not matter how we react. Had Rooney done it it would have been passion in regards to the celebration and aggression and will to win with the tackle. That's what Gray and Linekar etc would have spouted in any case.

Forgot all about that Alan Shearer inicdent with Neil Lennon..... well if Shearer got away with it with The FA for that, if Adebayor is found guilty by The FA, it will clearly show thier double standards and will show that this may be a Race Issue thing..... no action against Vidic this season, Ronaldo for his kicks, Rooney for his kicks and elbows, Terry, Gerrard and Lampard for thier awful challenges and actions in the past. Then look at this with Adebayor, certain to get a ban, Evra, got a ban, Ferdinand got a ban..... coincidence they are black?

Absolutely. I think there is no better response than the manager to go in front of the cameras, on national tv, with a pained smile on his face and defend the club and all who sail in her.

Interesting point an earlier poster made about Shearer. I, too, thought what is this tosser going to say about stamping on people and how bad a role model it would be!

But Shearer was first pick up front for England and so the FA would apply the fullest extent of leniency in his case. Being Togolese, the FA will no doubt jump down Ade's throat and attempt to come out of his arse smelling of roses.
