- We went to Rotherham…
May I suggest some Puccini. His operas are wonderful. Like most ‘classical’ music they have to be really listened to in order to ‘get’ the wonderful style and rhythm. In modern day Britain people don’t appear to have the time to really sit down and listen. The result is the short ‘hits’ of only a few minutes. It is really worth sitting down sometimes and listening to the way that orchestras and soloist play the music that someone has written.
If you want to see what composers must go through watch Amadeus. How they can ‘hear’ an orchestra with all its constituent parts and put them together for a symphony. Incredible.
Spoken like a man who grew up hating classical music and especially opera. Still dislike some especially Wagner.
Well said that man.
I’m off to the Puccini festival in Italy in 10 days.
5 days, 2 operas and staying in Lucca.
