Anyone buy cars from here?
What are the pros and cons?
Advice and tips appreciated.

A friend is interested in a small to medium car with 5-6k to spend. Been years since I've been there and the auctioneer doesn't hang around, seems a bit daunting for the private buyer, and I'm not clued up on car auctions.

Make sure you know what you are buying, It's easy to see a nice shiny car only to find it's gone to auction because of a expensive fault. Also the hammer price isn't what you pay there are other charges.
Check the fee section on there web site so you know what you are paying.
 
I used to buy quite a few back in the day from Belle view and Brighouse when they were ADT auctions.Pros are obvious with the intention of securing a car at trade price and the cons are many including buying a pup.No good visiting if you can secure the vehicle from the trade with a nice fat warranty and buyer protection for similar money so know your price and stick to it.Plenty of trade at the auction who will spot you a mile off and run you up way above their reserve prices.Try to get hold of a copy of glasses or at best cap black book for guidance.
Not sure if they still do them but a good auction is the under 20k under 2 years Union Jack sales offered with balance of manufactures warranty.

Or if thats not his bag then maybe a fleet sale with engineers report or sold all good.Pay attention to bodywork and trim and try to look at the vehicle in the light.Listen carefully to the auctioneer to ensure it's not on the hit list and dont forget to factor in your buyers premiums.Listen to the vehicle start up and ask the drive through lad how it feels.As mentioned a lot of the time cars can be bought through pitches for not much difference in price and offer a source of redress if things go wrong. ..Caviat Emptor ..

Go with a price and stick to it.Do research before, Black Cap the best guide if you know someone of the trade who has access.Its a few years since I was in the Franchised Motor Trade but I believe you can nowadays pay a bit more at some auction houses and get a guarantee of money back if faults are found straight after purchase ie gearbox bearing as you drive off etc.
Also, not saying this auction house does it but I have seen them "bouncing bids off the walls" at some auction houses.This means that there is no one bidding on the car but it appears there is.Gets someone hooked who is effectively bidding against him/herself.....normal a private punter.

BCA were a good place when I was in the trade, have a lot of deals to sell part exs / overage stock from major dealer franchised dealer groups in the area.

Running them up to reserve and you are effectively bidding with the pigeon on the rafters : (
