This is becoming a real bugbare of mine, but I cannot understand the amount of times we do not beat the first man at a corner. I'm sure it must have something to do with how precise the corner kick needs to be but I'm sure that about 70% of the corners we take are cleared by the first man.

Surely this must be practiced religiously?
 
When Vinny scored v West Brom first game of the season I actually thought that was an end to us being crap at corners. False dawn.
 
Not as much as I hate our out-swinging corners. A defenders dream as it's always going away from goal.

I was just about to add that. Completely useless for people to attack. I'm sure we are one of the tallest teams in the premier league so potentially a huge threat from corners.
 
Simple kdb in swing from the left and silva/kolarov to inswing from the right for some reason though we prefer the out swinger of navas and silva! Though we have scored a few from set plays I'd like to see more variety! I don't think we ever practice them for or against!

Yes the bloke next to me was having a right rant yesterday it just made me smile. I totally agree though how hard can it be for a professional footballer to take a proper corner!

I know. The thing is, we don't have a great deal to moan about to be fair. We have some unbelievable players but it drives me mad! With our height we should be scoring more often from corners, apparently Chelsea are the strongest with a goal from every 16 corners, we are outside the top ten which is at least 50+ corners per goal. If you believe the stats and the source...

I'd have Kolorov taking corners from the right and Yaya taking them from the left

Well both take a wicked free kick and Toure can ping a ball into the top corner from 25/30 yards, so I'm pretty fucking sure he'd hit the area he's supposed to from a corner more times than not

I remember both David White and Andy Hinchliffe taking vicious inswinging corners back in the day and Toure and Kolorov should be doing that now

I don't disagree with that at all. Somebody needs to stop David Silva taking them though, he may be a genius with the ball at his feet but he can't take corners.

It's probably something ridiculous like the training pitch is shorter than the Etihad pitch!

Agreed. Fuck all help defending anyway at a combined 5'3, so keep them occupying a full back and centre half!
 
Our tactic from corners seems to be outswingers to the near post. Sadly it worked a couple of times at the beginning of the season & we've not stopped since.

KdB should be taking inswingers for me, I remember us trying 3-4 all season, scored from 1 & hit post with another.. At worst it wouldn't hurt to throw in the odd one or mix it up more to keep the opposition on their toes surely.

No team has scored more goals in the league from corners than City this season. We have 6 goals from 123 corners.

Chelsea finished last season with 10 goals from 226 corners. So our scoring rate is higher than Chelsea's last season.
