tried to attach t astronomic events but way too drunk. Stars R us, crazy sky tom\night with no moon

Spent a fortnight in Aghios Georgious North in Corfu many years ago when there was very little development in the area and a mountain behind us. Very dark at night so the view of the stars was amazing every night. Fantastic sight

Took this in Mauritius last year, very little light pollution, and to see the Milky Way is awe inspiring!

I would love to be in your location to see the night sky. Sadly I live a mile from Manchester city centre so an orange hum is all I see. I can make out the more visible stars but that's my lot. Must be amazing what you can see

Good pic mate.

I was in Australia at Uluru (Ayers Rock) a year back and the milky way seen from there is simply astonishing. I mean it is *bright*, like a big bright band across the sky.

I hadn't realised until I watched stargazing live months later that in the northern hemisphere we only get to look away from the centre of the milky way, i.e. we are in it, but looking outwards into space. So we only see the edge. We are on the spoke of wheel, looking only at the rim.

In the southern hemisphere, you are on the spoke, looking at the hub. Which is an altogether more spectacular sight, since that's where most of the stars are.

The best night sky I have seen was in Fraser Island off the Queensland coast. I thought at the time that the milky-way was casting shadows. I did have a drink inside me though, so maybe not.
