Beligum National team

There was an article on here (or a member that wrote an informative post :-O) that there are some pretty big problems in the Belgian national side, plenty of good players but their attitude is shit.

In any case i think they'd need a decent keeper and a proper goalscorer to challenge the top nations for a trophy.

Van Buyten's still fantastic. Vice-captain after Vermaelen.

Nicolas Lombaerts also a CB, plays every game for Zenit Saint Petersburg - a big club. And he's on the bench for Belgium.

Emile Mpenza still plays for Belgium, btw. Does pretty well for his club Sion. Not called up for the friendly on wednesday, but will be back. Has a lot of experience and he's still very fast. Scored twice against Turkey in october.

Jan Vertonghen plays every game for Ajax as well, fantastic player. Only 22.

And don't forget.. the manager is Advocaat now. Fantastic manager.

The "attitude problem" is history. Advocaat put a stop to that, no worries.

Two great goalkeepers have been called up. Gillet does very well in Italy for Bari and Logan Bailly is one of the biggest talents in the Bundesliga.

Bailly: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18iz-VjJsqA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18iz-VjJsqA</a>

Yeah i've seen him a few times (especially i think at the Olympics?) he seemed a very good shot stopper, but also erratic, didn't seem too reliable anyway, maybe he's maturing.

A few others quite impressed me then, Marteens, De Mul and Pocognoli, are they anywhere near the senior side now?

Yeah, he is.. the Bundesliga does that to you.

Martens is pretty good.

De Mul *can* be fantastic, but isn't playing at Sevilla at the moment. Unlucky that his position in the squad's taken by a top player.

Pocognoli was very promising. Not that great anymore at the moment.

Jonathan Legear stil has an "attitute" problem, but is a player to watch. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GctChOxaEiY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GctChOxaEiY</a> goal he made yesterday.
