A pal of mine, through his connections at the club, gave me a Bell, Lee and Summerbee signed shirt for my 50th birthday this year and I am about to get it framed and then it will take pride of place in my home bar down in the basement.

As i will never ever part with this, i want to get some idea on its value for insurance purposes and was wondering if anybody out there would have any idea on this?

Only sensible answers please, i know this is a lot to ask with you lot :-) but i just want some opinions and some advice here chaps and chapess'es!!

Cheers in advance...

It depends on a few things but like any item it only worth what someone wants to pay .sounds logocal but it true. Also depends wether it was a shirt any of them worn or wether it a Replica .also a certificate saying it was genuine would help. Foe eg if it was from any of the Cup Finals ora Derby Day Classic it would be worth 10times more than a signed Replica .My advice save your ins money cos thet wont be able to replace it anyway

Buford, I'm assuming it's a replica Toffs type shirt? If so, I'd say you should insure for about 150-200.

Here is an example of a signed Colin Bell replica, selling at 125:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.icons.com/colin_bell/Colin_Bell_Signed_Manchester_City_Shirt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.icons.com/colin_bell/Colin_B ... City_Shirt</a>

i bought one from the autograph shop in Chester a couple of years ago for £200 - the same shop that the owners got sent to prison for selling counterfeit memorabilia , anyway im happy with it and i've just gotta assume its genuine!

I've also got a Bell, Lee and Summerbee signed shirt. Its a 1969 cup final shirt and the signatures are in the red stripes. Trouble is I don't have a certificate of authentication.

I took it into 'Sporting Icons' in Chester a few years ago and they told me it was worth about £300.00. However, since then the shop has closed down and the owners prosecuted for fraud so their estimate could be worthless.

Anyway, I won't be parting with it either.

Its the old style home sky blue shirt and its from the City shop (SCORE DRAW official retro on label) c/w with price tag of 30 quid..

There's no doubt its genuine, Buzzer who is really good friends with my pal, got it done.

As most people know, there is a rift between Franny and Colin, so Mike Summerbee signed it first, then took it to Colin and explained who it was for (I am lucky enough to have met Coliln "my all time City hero" quite a few times now and he remembered me.....shock and awe setting in here!) and told him he was going to get Franny to sign it as well. but Colin was OK doing this and last but not least Lee1Pen signed it!!

I guess could get a letter of authenticity from Buzzer??

Its got my name and the number 50 on the back making it rather unique i guess!!

And I know it can never be replaced, but in the event that it ever gets stolen and/or trashed by some D-Head, at least having the insurance pay out some proper cash for such a momento will ease the heartache, imagine trying to explain why this shirt is worth over $500 to an insurance assessor in Georgia, USA :-) !!!
