Bell, Lee and Summerbee statue | Unveiled (pg19)

Good to see it’s getting a panning from those in Trafford, London and Ireland. The Temu Trinity they’re calling it.

Cry more. It’s really hurting isn’t it?!

Originally in the museum. I commissioned it when we set up the museum in 2003. It cost £2000 and was done by sculptor Kari Furre who used real football clothing, boots etc. over a base figure. She sprayed it all with a special fabric hardener. It's made for indoors. We had other figures in the museum - one of Colin Bell and two of fans (representing climbing into the stadium in 1934's record crowd and staying loyal during late 1990s. Not certain what happened to the fan figures but both Bell and Trautmann are there.
Never seen that one before Gary, but what a wonderful statue. Well done mate.

Big Mal said that as he drove to Maine Road for the first time along the route he saw lots of rag shirts, his thought was we will soon change that, he went on to say that in time he use to cross the road when he saw a rag as he didn't know what to say to them

The whole 67/68 team deserves a statue, but in truth Bell, Lee and Summerbee were the most famous.

Those of us who were there will never forget the others. Skip, Doyle, Young, Oakes, Pardoe - just as deserving but not as 'famous'.
Mulhern, Book, Pardoe, Doyle, Heslop, Oakes, Lee, Bell, Sumerbee, Young, Coleman and the regular substitute Connor.

i never realised that Bert wore shin pads.

WOW he did look bad there and I didn`t recognise him either. Glad he was around to hear about their statues being commissioned and wonderful for all three families and well deserved.
I don't know if the family of Colin and Franny fell out when they both did but it would be nice if something like this brought them back together.

Thats right.
I would have preferred these were done years ago, prior to the statues of the modern day players.
I'm of the age that I saw all 3 play for us whereas some of our younger fans might know very little about them.

Then again… would you have trusted Swales to commission anything half decent? It would have been cheap and not very cheerful given his track record.

Probably have made it out of papier-mache that he'd bought as a job lot from Frannie.'s toilet roll company
