Bell, Lee and Summerbee statue | Unveiled (pg19)

When we are fund guilty I suppose we'll have to demolish the statues and sell them for scrap. Ah well.

It’s because they can’t hack that it’s us in the limelight, compared to them and their shit, fraud of a manager being splashed all over with his grumpy face.
 
BBC North west tonight are going to do a piece on the statue soon.
 
I'll say it...

Love the idea, the style, the plinth with the other players names. It's great.

But I feel like they've got Bell and Summerbee spot on, Franny is more like 90% him. Think it's the nose that's just a little thin, but maybe it's just down to how I remember him?

Is it his pre Norman Hunter nose or did you want the post Norman one
 
Well, they're an improvement on the other lot. I'm not expecting Lacoon and His Sons or Michelangelos David, but I'm glad they've at least chosen to avoid the recycled cans of coke look of previous attempts.

I googled world's best statues before typing that, and choose those 2 as appropriate for the cultured MF it then made me sound.

I saw Bert play several times and went to his testimonial at Maine Road in 1964. At the end of the game, he came over the tannoy and thanked all the people of Manchester who had been so kind to him.

It looks great and will be a good focal point at that side of stadium. But I see that city media are calling it the Holy Trinity. They were never known as that and the title has been claimed by the statue in Trafford - so just leaves us opening to accusations of plagiarism. It needs its own name and identity.
