Bellamy to the dippers?

Can't see any benefit at all in this, and unless the stories like this and about the Adebayor deal are countered by the club (I'm hoping they're not true) we're in real danger of being seen as a soft touch for future transfers.

That's my fear as well. We have set ourselves up as a charity rather than a business by the looks of it!

I'm all for giving Bellamy a free transfer... if that means the contract is cancelled. But if it means we're ALSO paying him off, that's madness.

Same for Adebayor. Loan him out by all means, but not if it costs us money. However, I am more confident that the Adebayor deal will see us paying none of Ade's wages. Or so it's been claimed.

I did say at the start of this transfer window that Bellamy was only ever going to go on a free, that talk of us getting £4m was fanciful.

I'm afraid this image will continue to gain force for as long as we so publicly and obviously freeze out players who are no longer in the manager's plans. The fact that they are no longer in the manager's plans is fine in itself, but I don't agree with them being ostracised so publicly by the club. It's bad on a human level (until a player is transferred he should be part of the club and treated as such) and it's bad on a business level (every other club are encouraged to take advantage of a situation we have created unnecessarily). Bellamy, Bridge, even RSC have some value to other clubs and we shouldn't be subsidising it. Hell, the rags somehow managed to get £3m for Obertan and Bellamy, even at 30+ and with 2 dodgy knees, is twice the player that wierdo will ever be.

Of course, it's also encouraged by the universal knowledge that ultimately the Sheikh don't exactly need the money.

Agreed. But I don't think we should be casting them aside in the way we are doing, like just so much rotting garbage. Doesn't do much for the club's image or balance sheet.

To be fair as far as we know Adebayor never had any problem with Hughes or Mourinho.

i disagree. City could have got the same goal signing young gifted players from all over the world instead of the fuckying "PL proven" aged players.

'Young and gifted' doesn't mean they live up to their potential or hack it in the Premier League, the toughest league in the world. Added to the fact that 'wonderkids' cost more than most players.

Also on Mourinho not signing him, he could have had the best relationship in the world with him, doesn't mean he has to sign him does it?

Not quite true that is it. While Bellamy is no doubt a difficult character to manage, Hughes and Robson (at Newcastle) managed him pretty well. I don't remember Bellamy having too many issues at West Ham or Celtic either. Or his early clubs for that matter.

if you have ever read sir bobby's book you'd of noted that he described him the most difficult player he's ever had to handle and would have regular slanging matches with all the other playersin training.not slagging the lad off myself as i think alot of modern day players need a kick up the arse but thought it worth a mention.
