Ben Chilwell

This has to be a high priority signing, he's really impressed every time I watch him.

Presumably, Rodgers would then buy Tierney as his replacement, and six months later we'd be wondering why we never just went straight to Celtic. As I've said, if Zinchenko or Angelino could allow us to play more measured and controlled football, as evidenced against West Ham United and Bournemouth, then perhaps the interest in giant fullbacks is waning. Nearly at the end of year three and we're no nearer seeing three at the back either.

I don't understand this unless Pep is determined to have fullbacks who are big.

Other than being a bigish unit, I don't understand what he does, that anyone else can't do.

He just looks like John Stones playing fullback to me.

Other than size, Angelino is a miles better footballer, as is Zinchenko.

He's a scrawny 5'10", an inch taller than Zinch? Am I missing something here?

That said, I don't see it either. Looks a dime-a-dozen Prem leftback to me on the level of Ben Davies, Aaron Cresswell and others.

Does Angelino count as home grown or club (academy) trained? If it's the latter we could also get some other HG player in like Rice or Wan-Bissako?

I think we should be going for both Rice and N'dombole.

And Zichenko?

Zinchenko might turn out to be a great back-up left back, but just as Delph had a good run of games, he is still no leftback and his form will probably decrease as it has done before. He can fill in, but we need a Benjamin Mendy back on top to fight for the place with Ben Chilwell. We need actual left backs. Enough with the stand-in, converting-midfielder-to-left-back-nonsense. We need players who have been playing there for years.

Yes

I would go for Tierney now

Are you on about the right player? He’s not big at all

He's a lot bigger than Angelino & bigger/stronger unit than the typical player Pep isusually associated with in that position, also much more robust than Zinchenko.

But imo a very average footballer & not a great defender.

I think Stones used to play like him when Everton used him at fullback. Not great attacking not great defending, medium paced.

abidal and alaba are not small. i agree that angelino is probably a better fit and footballer than chilwell at the moment

I completely understand your point and why you're making it, but I think you're wrong. We don't need someone who has played there for years, we need someone who has the attributes that make them likely to succeed in Pep's version of that position and the adaptability to be able to learn. Of course, if they already play there, so much the better

Fucker, sorry Ducker, just reads the transfer forum here and reports it as fact. If we started a thread on how we were going to tempt Dixie Dean out of retirement to be our new goalkeeper, the only way he wouldn't print it would be if his editor stopped him.

I really hope we don't sign Wayne Bridge (mark II). Not worth a quarter of what's being quoted.

Not a chance.

We wouldn't pay over 50 million. I know Mendy cost that much but he clearly, injuries aside, has a lot of potential and offers us something unique. Chilwell doesn't have the same x factor to him.

Tagliafico please!!!
