Interesting programme on tely tonight .realise there has been many debates about it & it can be an imotive issue .but i cant get my head round the fact that we pay up to & probably more than £400 pound per week to people for housing benifits alone .

Imo nothing in life is for free, even if some cant find work they should somehow contribute to the community instead of watching jeremy kyle and sitting on their pot smoking ass....

IT's a bit old, but have a look at this:

The sad thing is that it is now called "on benefits" or "benefit system", mainly because people do BENEFIT from it. I'm not having a go, I'm just saying that's the term that people use nowadays, even I use it because that's the modern term for it.

It's not a benefit, it's welfare, it's a last-chance fund for people to stop them going hungry or losing their homes.

I watched it. It was depressing. There was a bunch of teenagers on this job finding scheme to get them off benefits, and the presenter asked them how many of their parents were currently working. Only one of the 15 teens raised their hand. There's just so much apathy and lack of ambition out there. Comments like, "Why should I work for £6.50 an hour, I'm better off sitting at home!" Erm.....get a better job then, you fat lazy prick.

It's so easy with a little bit of will power. You start off on the bottom rung and work your way up. Then take it as far as you want.

i.e. Join Tesco as an 18k pa handyman, go on one of their college schemes where you can become qualified in a trade while also earning a wage. Become a qualified electrician>>>>Wages go up to 26k pa. After a few years of on the job experience become self employed >>>> earn 50k pa. A few years later go to the bank and take a loan out to start your own business, employ a gang of electricians >>>> Earn 200k pa.

This pretty much applies to any job in the world. If you don't get off your arse, you'll never know.

Its sickening, I was worse off for a couple of years working than i would have been sitting at home in my council flat watching sky all day.

The industrial Britain as many knew it is no more, we don't hardly produce anything.

when I look at old video footage from the 60's which isn't to far back I see thriving communities, many job opportunities at the forefront and a chance to progress.

Now in my generation I see alot of social depravity.

This is no coincidence.

if there was work, people Would work.

I had to go self-employed to work, and I earn fuck all.
I have the degree, the experience, the nice CV and so on... I can't get a job.

I don't blame people for the benefits system, I blame the private sector for the mass exodus of industry which has been outsourced all around the world in effort to cut wage costs.

Greed!

A big limit on the import of goods, a big limit on companies who operate over here outsourcing their workforce abroad and you'll see more job opportunities created.

I had a job in I.T Support, this was outsourced to India.

Fair bit of truth in this post, more than some would like to admit.
