Genuine question to those questioning his defensive ability (and anyone else who has a view), but is it not possible that these perceived weaknessses and gaps being left by Mendy are also down to Pep's instructions? Mendy is asked to do a different job to Delph and he contributes a lot more up field. Seems inevitable to me that Mendy will be caught out more as he can't be in two places at once, but surely he has to prioritise being where People asks him to play?

True, if he's bombing on that should be expected and there should be someone covering but I don't think that is why his defending is being questioned. It's been when he is back he switches off and some of his one on one defending has looked very poor, even basics like how square on he is. Against Newcastle he actually barely overlapped so that must have been on Pep's instructions but that just meant with Sterling and Mahrez just going inside we had absolutely no width. The difference to the side when we play Same and Sterling wide is huge. Obviously that's not Mendy's fault but so far I'm much happier with Delph and Sane on the left.

Not really. He has a lot to prove yet. His near season long injury was self inflicted one of the most ridoculous challanges ever seen in the Ethiad or Maine road. His positioning in defence is pathetic. Ask Richard Dunne if you don't believe me. Some of his online
activity is jouvenile at best. Don't expect he
will be
around mucj longer.3
Haha this is a joke yes ?.if not this is the biggest croc of shit I've read in this forum for along time.

I'm a bit baffled as to all the hype he gets for a handful of games. Genuine worship. Wierd.

You can't really prevent getting injured but until he's consistently playing and playing well at that, I'll reserve all the "legend" tripe.
Spot on.

Pep confirms Mendy was late for treatment on Sunday and says it's down to traffic in Manchester. When pushed further, Pep says "they have to be here on time" and confirms he spoke to Mendy about it.

I get the impression that all the goodwill he built up from his antics off the pitch last season, is quickly running out.

Both with Pep and with the fans...

He needs to concentrate on the football for a while, prove himself fit and capable before anything else.Frustration will inevitably grow if he continues to clown around while not doing what he's getting paid for.

Hopefully, being a bright lad,he'll realise that and find the right balance.

I don’t mind the off field jokes if he keeps his head down and focuses on training or getting fit when he’s injured. Turning up late for recovery is bang out of order.

Get your fucking head in it you tosspot or fuck off.
