Hopefully it's not just a case of poor English when he says a couple of months but I fear I may be grasping at straws.

Man, ACL's are no joke. Some people are freaks and can come back from them in 9 months. Others it takes 2 years to get fully up to speed. Some are never the same. Hoping for the best here...

Other way round daz

Dont think that's right, bud. A tear with surgery is 6-9 months (and more likely 9 for a high stress sport like football). Rupture is an ambiguous word - it could mean a total tear or if it is a partial tear, you might get away without surgery, but since Mendy is having surgery (tomorrow), the recovery time is likely the same as a complete tear.

How typical is it that basically the only weakness in the squad gets punished a few games into the season.

I mean he has been injury prone in the past but this is just pure bad luck.

Delph looked pretty damn good but wouldnt expect him to perform that well consistently, also he is very injury prone himself. Danilo is more than good enough defensively but isnt the same threat going forward. Its a shame we dont have a LB equivalent of Maffeo.

Agreed.
Slight gamble taken with the defence this summer and this is just about the only single position/player we couldn't afford to lose. Bad luck.
Lots of teams are now going to attack us down that side trying to get in between otamendi & whoever is at left back.

Well I guess thats what the doctors have told him so yes some hope. He has seen the doctor that seems to have the best record with this stuff.
Very good news, must mean partial tear hence reason he was sent to Barcelona. Manchester would be more than capable of dignosing something more severe
