Benjamin Mendy (Back In Training)

Can't see it. He played there against West Ham I think and was nowhere near as good.

I agree. He struggled to penetrate the lines with his passing.
That may be the fundamental flaw that costs him that role or something that can be rectified with continued playing time and confidence.

In general, domestic players aren't coached as continental players are and things that the likes of Ederson, Silva or Fernandinho consider normal would be alien to Delph. That's why there was such a premium on Stones.

Defensively Delph is very handy. He's certainly earned a couple more years with us and hopefully a hatful of trophies for himself.

Delph & Mendy offer excellent left back options for Pep.

Where does Delph fit in if we buy another LB when Mendy is fit?

He is an ideal squad player. Can play left back or centre mid in league cup and fa cup games.
Can see him and mendy sharing left back duties next season.

Would anyone have him back in once he’s fit in April? Delph has been top drawer this season and very rarely gets caught out of position. Mendy during the Liverpool game got caught so many times up the pitch leaving Otamendi one on one with Salah.

Will be good against the less adventurous teams for extra width over lapping Sane but would you stick him in if you have to play Barca, Madrid or PSG?

He was playing as a wing back that day and not left back. Also these many times you mention was once in the entire match which was the only chance they created all game.

I think he needs to calm down a little to be honest. Not played really and it was him who leaked the park the bus video in our dressing room. Throwing confetti in the rags dressing room and tweeting about the Brighton lad scoring the own goal. Compare that to David Silva who I can’t think of a single indiscretion in 8 years. I know this is his personality but we paid 50 million or so for him and I would rather he was on the pitch rather than dabbing. It was his own crazy tackle that caused his injury and as for dabbing leave that to Pogpa and lindgard. There is a fine line to being funny and being a tit.

Think he is a little close to crossing the line. Maybe a little harsh but my thoughts at the moment.

Everything you mentioned apart from the dabbing is funny.

. . . and Ederson could be an emergency fullback! He used to play that position long ago.

It's remarkable the flexibility/adaptability we have.
I was thinking about this while watching the Watford match. He could probably play a deep lying playmaker role with ease with the range of passing that he has.
I know we'd have to be in dire straits if we had to resort to that but it would be great to see him playing in a sky blue shirt rather than his goalkeeping kit.

One it wasn’t him, it was his friend.

Two, it was dubbed and therefore not real.

Three, it wasn’t an indescretion.

Four, he’s injured so can’t be on the pitch in the first place.

Five, it’s all about the social media and winning kids over, innit.
