Benjamin Mendy leaves City | Launches “multi-million-pound” claim against club over unpaid wages (p118)

Especially since one went back again after claiming she’d already been raped by him previously. All very odd!
I don't really want to discuss specifics of this case, but that does happen, and is not as odd as it appears.

Lots of victims will blame themselves, or try to rationalise what's happened, and in some cases that can involve what seems to be counterintuitive behaviour from the outside.

You’d have to be very stupid of looking to gain financially to return to the scene of “crime”.

Not always - as I said, people deal with traumatic experiences in very complex ways.

Even if you've been through the experience yourself, you can't know how others will react/rationalise/try to cope. Denying what happened is a common coping mechanism.

I won't get into a discussion of this case, but there are plenty of academic studies which talk to people who've been raped, and explain this in more detail.
