You're the one flapping. It's a reasonable question whether we're in for two left backs and or right backs, because often a club will register an interest in two players in case one falls through for whatever reason.
It's incredibly clear cut.
1) We have no left backs. Kolarov is not a LB option any more.
2) Mendy is injury prone, can't be our only LB.
3) EVERYONE SAYS WE'RE GETTING 4.
Is this the daily flap? Nothing going on today so we've got to flap about getting 1 LB or 2?
2 of Kolarov's last 3 starts ( the Derby and Zaba's farewell game) were at left back, of course he's still a left back option.

What you're saying is "ignore all the evidence that we're getting 2 LB's (ITKs, Journalists, not having a LB etc.) and tell me where the evidence is?"
You ask why everyone thinks we're getting 2, I tell you, and then you say, "yeah but ignore that because it doesn't suit my crisis about only getting one".
Personally would love our first choice full backs to be as close to "world class" as we can. Sandro is a much more reliable quality purchase, although I accept more money. IMO Mendy has question marks about his injury record, character, intelligence and attitude. I think we are in danger of picking a player for brawn when IMO footballing ability is more important.If the rumor we think £40M is too much for a LB, we have no chance a Sandro.
He played 28 games at CB and 12 at LB last season. He played LB 3 times in 2017
Pep refused to play him at LB even when Clichy was giving away goals on a weekly basis. He's not a LB option any more than Fernandinho is a RB option. Use in case of emergencies, that's all.

Who knows what will happen but it's not inconceivable that we'll sign 1 left back and Kolarov will be his backup.
I agree that it's not inconceivable that Kolarov could be back up left-back again this season. I don't think it's an absolute given that we'll sign four full backs this window, but hope we do get both Mendy and Bertrand. Hopefully Guardiola saw enough of Kolarov as a full back last season not to play him there again unless in an emergency.
