We'll cave in regardless. We always do.
Might as well cave in now Txiki and let him have a good preseason........

The bid has been made public, neither City or Monaco have denied it.
Therefore the bid is official

The bid has been made public, Monaco have not said he is not for sale.
Therefore Mendy is definitely for sale

The issue is the price. Neither clubs have denied this.
Therefore City will pay the money required.

Trendy Bendy will terrorize the right side of every club in England next season.

Game on

I'm confident still this is going to happen soon, but I do wonder how this looks to the player in these situations. They have effectively said he's worth the same if not more than Walker, by staling or questioning that then what message does it send?
Problem is fans see we offer for example £43m yet they want £45m & the consensus is "it's only £2m just pay it" but if you do that on every deal then before you know it your budget has either extended by £10m or been reduced by that amount. As an example, that means we can then not buy say another Luiz (a future star). Same amounts hear & there add up & cause a knock on effect. I can see the frustration but also see how it's important to stand our ground.
Just an observation.

Man City have £44.5m bid rejected, Chelsea ask to be kept informed

The ignorance displayed on this forum honestly, HONESTLY never fails to amaze me. When you think it can't get any worse, it does.

"Cave in and pay what they want immediately" - Okay, we go in with the offer of £55mil straight away, this however doesn't activate a release clause and so Monaco start to believe that £55mil is the lowest we're willing to pay. At that point they just drive the price up higher - This is a given because it's basic practice for anyone selling anything, just how high are the buyers willing to go? Cue the same posters calling Txiki an idiot for spending so much money. Why didn't he negotiate properly? It's almost like he can't win at this battle.
If people can't see the sense of even pretending you don't want to pay what they "want" to make the club happy they recieved it in the end they are foolish.

From Monacos perspective you can see their position here.

They have recruited themselves but to lose half of that starlet team that did so well last year will not be easy to swallow. They are familiar with selling their better players, but this goes beyond there own standards. Monaco were something else last season. They are being ripped a new arsehole.

Fair fucks to them for standing there ground.

Their star players will leave eventually for bigger clubs. They're just trying to squeaze every penny out of us because they know their players are probably at their highest ever value. I can't get my head around why silva was so cheap.
