Who gives a fuck if it's reported as £49 million or £52 million? We've got our primary target in that position and that's the important thing, it's something we've failed at on many occasions in recent years.

The fee is irrelevant in today's market, there's so much money around that it really doesn't matter, other than having to comply with FFP which we do comfortably, money has no value anymore, hence why it's proving near impossible to get Sanchez from Arsenal.

We're taking the Real Madrid approach and relentlessly pursuing our primary targets and refusing to say no. This is how you win the big prizes.

Post of the thread. Incredible how some don't get it. We are at the top table now - owner, exec management, manager and coaches, players, facilities and backroom staff - everything is in place to win the lot in future seasons. Not saying we will but we've one hell of a chance.

Strap in, enjoy the ride.

With the completion of this signing I for one will be completely relaxed about any other business now. We've addressed our major weaknesses at full back positions and added more depth to our creativity with Bernardo Silva. If we can use Merlin more sparingly in the future hopefully we can extend his playing career a couple of seasons. Anything after Mendy for me is a Brucey Bonus.

The aim is surely to look at the team and no see a weakness. And to look at the bench and know someone there can change the game either by way of being an impact to score or to secure what we have. Chelsea had that last season. In every position they were strong. This year our first 11 looks like it will be awesome and if we can get into a rhythm we can do really well.
