Bernard Halford

Only met him once it was in the middle of summer when me aged 14 and my brother aged 12 visited maine road and decided to try and climb up one of the walls as there was no one about to see if we could get into the ground , when from nowhere this mans voice shouted get down from there what the hell you playing at lads ? it was Bernard who after bollocking us asked us if we wanted to have a look round , we couldnt believe our luck not only did we get a full backroom tour he gave us both a football and a scarf each , what a true gent and lovely man , will be sadly missed by the MCFC family ...RIP Bernard thanks for that day and all you did for the club

My mate turned up to the Derby game only to realise he'd lost the stub from his season ticket for that game. ticket office rang upstairs and they told us to go to reception in the maine stand. Bernard came down checked my mates season ticket. Gave him a bollocking for loosing it then asked us how old we were the bollocked us again for underage drinking then gave us a spare ticket and sent us on our way. Rip blue

Used to play bowls with my dad back in the day. A true gent, City through and through and a loyal and tireless servant of the Club. Sad news, indeed.

Had his name printed in my first season ticket in the 70s. Definitely part of the fabric of the club for the past 50 years. Thanks Bernard.

RIP Bernard.
He got me a ticket for the Everton FA cup QF replay in 1981 as I had to present my university thesis on the Monday when the tickets went on sale. Cheers for that Bernard - I've never forgotten the thought and effort you went to for that, especially as I got to see the players after the match as well!
