Bernardo Silva: “Something has to change. You learn who you can go to war with, first of all"

It was. Well, not a tackle in the conventional sense but certainly the coming together/push was the reason his knee went. I'm not claiming Partey set out to injure him, but it certainly wasn't an out of the blue fatigue related injury. He had a run of games off in the run-up to that game as well.
I believe Rodri was targeted right from the beginning of the game, nothing meant to be malicious but little pushes and shoves to break up his rhythm. Because of fatigue it was an incident waiting to happen unfortunately, either then or another time

i remember the incident he was actually pushed by the arsenal player which knocked him off balance and then his knee went as he hit the floor, exactly the same same thing happened to bojinov v utd ( evra challenged him hip to hip and he fell off balance and did his knee or ankle as he hit the floor )
I remember it too. It was either Rice or Partey ( who imo should never be on a pitch again) who caused the injury. I dearly wish one of ours can 'innocously' cause one of them an injury. Not an ACL but a 3 month out one.

Partey. Nothing malicious, just a shoulder block.

Exactly he jars his knee. It’s not an impact injury. Partey bumps him but isn’t the cause of the injury.

The people really to blame or Pep for over playing him and the board for not buying a back up that we could rotate. Rodri was complaining himself last summer.

It was only a matter of time.

Bullshit. It wasn't a matter of time, it was a matter of a bump.

Mental beyond belief this conclusion.

The bump was innocuous - Partey didn’t set out to do his knee. Partey’s intention was interfere with his run on the cross.

The same jarring could have happened anywhere in the pitch or even running into a team mate.

The weakening of the ACL, which allowed the jarring to cause the rupture was down to being overplayed by Pep.

Agree that Partey didn’t or couldn’t have deliberately caused the injury that happened but he tried to do him, none the less.

As far as the ‘weakened ACL’, I don’t know if there is any medical evidence to suggest that. He certainly had been over played but it was bad luck. We’ve had similar injuries to players in the past that hadn’t been overplayed.

Would be great to see the evidence you have that clearly shows he had a weakened ACL from overplaying, which I assume you have as you are stating it as a fact?

Anything could have happened, any time anywhere. Or not.

But that injury happened because of a push that got turned his knee in an unfortunate way.

Don’t agree with the premise of a weakened ACL but it’s clear that playing too much could lead to injuries, that’s why players are monitored by the sports science team and are rested when in the red zone as they call it Would also point out he played lots of games for Spain

I think the ill feeling over Rodri getting injured in that game comes from the way Arsenal came at us, and I mean literary right after our players and not the ball, from the first kick off.

I'm all for competitiveness and it's clear they wanted to use roughhousing on us, it would help them get a result and if a city player gets injured then the way they'd got themselves onto a frenzy, they'd be quite happy with that too.

It increases the chances of injuries when you have a game like that, to either side, but as I've said many times before I also think it's an indication of arsenal's weak or misplaced mentality.

Makes September interesting anyway. Rags followed by the bridesmaids.

It was unlucky. It happens.

99/100 other times in those circumstances the player just shrugs it off and cracks on. Rodders was unlucky and I don’t blame the other player at all for causing the injury. It wasn’t like it was a Joey Barton / Roy Keane style act of GBH.
