Bernardo Silva contract situation

Like all, I hope he stays, but if he really wants to move on, then fine, but he needs to only go for top dollar. No cut price deals accepted. He is a genuine world class player, and his sale price should reflect that, as it would if we were looking to purchase someone at the same level elsewhere.

It's crazy money I know, but if Grealish is worth £100m, he has to be on par at least.

He may want to move but he knows he only has 1 more large payday and City/ Real/ PSG are likely the only teams capable of giving him that despite the Barca propaganda machine.

They can't even pay Greizemann and had to loan him back to Athletico to save money.

I mean imagine spending 120 mil on a players transfer fee who you wanted and then more on wages but then you send him back to his ex team because the payments are too high.

That may be the worst transfer of ALL TIME.
Bernardo is still a young man... He's not exactly dodging his coffin is he! He's definitely got more than one more than decent payday ahead of him.
He's already a multi millionaire, and I would think he's got enough sense (and had enough advice) to have already got his money work for him, much like David Silva did with his luxury hotel etc on Gran Canaria.
He'd definitely be set up for life with a 3 year move to Barcelona, before seeing his career out in Lisbon.

Good luck to lad whatever he does. He's been brilliant for City.

If there's one thing we should all have realised over the past 30 years or so, it's that there's a big difference between what a player costs and what he's actually worth.

Aston Villa only put a £100m price tag on Jack Grealish to put off potential suitors. He was never actually worth that much, and truth be told, probably never will be.

If Bernardo really wants a move, I suspect that our management wouldn't turn down £60m if it was all paid upfront.

I would agree with you.

Only 120 million less than our fellow poster thinks we might turn down.

Hopefully he wants to stay with his fiancee and pooch, and we get a couple more years of this great player and lovely guy.
I think that would be an insult to the negotiation skills of the City management.

Not at all.

The club has a record of doing the best they can for any player who is unhappy or genuinely wants to leave.

They wouldn't stick a ridiculous price tag on any player. In fact, they would probably negotiate a deal that would financially benefit a player who had never let them down.

here we fucking go again..
''He doesn't like the weather.......'' Jeez.

Whether you like it or not, for someone who lived most of their life in a climate where it is warm for 9 months a year and the associated lifestyle, it can be important. It's not *the* most important factor; if it was he would move back to Portugal...and he's not going to move back to Portugal because their clubs aren't competitive and can't afford wages.

However, if you can get the same money as at City, playing in the CL, for one of the most historic clubs (certainly seen as the biggest & most important from most on the Iberian peninsula), in a beautiful and warm city, and be nearer to your family...then that is going to have some appeal.

It's not a black and white decision, there will be plenty making him want to stay (trophies, chance to win CL, fans who love him, teammates, Pep)
but pretending that some players who grew up in a Mediterranean climate aren't at all arsed that it is miserable in UK except for a random 5 weeks a year is a bit odd. Add the other factors (family, new challenge, boyhood dream) and its a tough choice.
