similar in a way that it is different.....? Not different context. One is physically harming somebody the other is an innocent joke which people are reading too much into because it seems the done thing today to do so. Do you agree with bullfighting? Because some people are offended but it is acceptable in Spain. What about meat. Do you eat meat? Or are you aware some staunch vegans will be offended? What about shoes? Leather? Same thing. I assume you don't have a car and never travel by plane - don't want to offend people who are seriously concerned with climate change (and I hope you have solar panels for the same reason). And then with a name like Paul - I assume you give 13% of your salary back given that as a man you are likely to earn 13% more on average than women. Don't want to offend any womens groups! I could go on... Racism is a horrible thing, but racism is about treating people differently (in a negative way) and not about joking that you look like a cartoon character that is popular in Spain/Portugal etc when Bernardo Silva is from. Thanks I have sat on my hands a bit having posted earlier in the thread as it was becoming ridiculous. Too many private battles and and point scoring being fought. It hurts when one of our own has been put into the spotlight regarding this issue, but we can't just ignore it, defend it or express some kind of moral outrage because of that. He made a stupid mistake no matter how innocently that mistake was made. He needs to apologise, learn from it and move on. If he had aimed a football at Mendy s head in the warm up and it hit a steward standing there, maybe injuring them or knocking them off their feet he wouldn't just go, " Tough shit, I was aiming it at Mendy s head, not my fault it hurt you." No, he would run over, help them up, apologise and then say, "Oh sorry you got hurt, that wasn't my intention it was meant for Mendy." Similar with this in a different context.
